“Great castle to learn about daily life in the Middle Ages - especially with children”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

History comes alive inside this wonderfully preserved castle as you get a taste of daily life in the middle ages. Wax figures show the typical characters you would meet in a castle, and the informative yet lively audio guide teaches you about day to day life of the different people, from the prince-archbishop to the kitchen servant and everyone in between. The narration in the audio guide is peppered with quotes from the diary of an Italian visitor to the castle which give a fascinating insight to castle life. The audio guide allows listening to in-depth information on a variety of topics.
Children can dress up in medieval clothes and try out armor.
There is also a museum about the region inside the castle (Landschaftsmuseum). It looked interesting, but unfortunately the displays were only in German.
