“Remote paradise”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

My husband and I loved this resort! We were given a night's stay here for a wedding present by my brother-in-law and his wife, when we were in Thailand for their wedding. We wished we had been able to spend more time here!

The resort is about an hour from Chiang Mai and we were unable to find any transportation to take us out there, apart from a private taxi, which was quite expensive. However, once we got there, we were very excited. The rooms are individual huts and are gorgeous, as is the rest of the resort. The restaurant was good, had a lot of Thai food, and the service was relatively fast - although we were the only ones in the restaurant... The breakfast buffet was adequate - could have included a little more food and/or variety. The spa was more expensive than in Chiang Mai, so wouldn't recommend it - we had an equal/better massage earlier in the day in Chiang Mai for a significantly cheaper price.

We just wished we had more time to enjoy this peaceful, beautiful resort. We spent the next day riding elephants at the Thai Elephant Resort (which was AMAZING!!), so only had a few hours to enjoy this slice of paradise!

Room Tip: Any room! They're all beautiful

Stunning location and brilliant idea to have a hotel consisting of self contained accommodation arranged around a swimming pool complex. But there is a sense of tiredness and disgruntlement which spills over to the customers. Perhaps it is because they were in the midst of a re-brand to become the Sib San resort, but staff seemed poorly supervised and indeed disaffected. The restaurant was particularly depressing, with staff hiding in groups (texting and chatting to one another) for most of the time in an area to one side of the tables, and having to be 'dug out' when you want to order your food. No service at the swimming pool unless you go and find a staff member yourself. Food quality good though, but there is something currently wrong about the place that management need to address. A shame really, since the sister hotel in Chiang Mai is brilliant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room which is actually beside the swimming pool

Peaceful setting as always. Lovely people and very relaxing, well worth the trip from Chiang Mai to stay for a few days. Rooms are very comfortable with decks and a chance to relax around the great pool. The restaurant by the pool offers good selection of Thai food with some Western dishes, in a romantic setting. Next door to the Elephant Sanctuary and Park, with other water sports available as well. There is small farm next to the resort's organic garden and a short walk to the cafe by the bridge, where they serve good drinks all day.

Fqormerly Rawee Waree, now Sib-San, very strange name as this means 1 million baht, and clearly that is at least what needs to be spent on it! The service is slow, English communication is not up to the standard required for this level of resort, the whole place looks run down, the Wifi, just forget it as it is next to useless, and you have to log in everytime, and even then it does not always work. The beds are comfortable, the rooms and housekeeping are good and clean, the air-con is very noisy, the pool has too much chlorine in it. The restaurant has mostly trainees as staff so service is below an acceptable standard. if you are lucky enough to get the buffet breakfast, then it is good, but A La Carte breakfast is slow and not so good. The Pont Cafe, by rhe bridge is well worth visiting at sunset.

The hotel is now called Sibsan Resort & Spa Maeteang.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights (wish I could stay longer) I couldn't find anything bad about this hotel so far.

The hotel is very nice: The room is huge, very clean, have a big and comfortable bed, nice view from room.

Also the staff are freindly and very very helpful.

The hotel is located 1 hour drive from the city center, but I would prefer to stay at the hotel and enjoy the mountain view at the pool and the restaurants.

You can also have some activities nearby the hotel, such as elephant ride, Oxcart tour, bamboo rafting, etc. which is just few minutes away!

The best part I like to be is at Pont Cafe for afternoon tea and look at the elephant walking pass the river. (They are coming from the elephant camp)

Very nice place to relax and escape from the city and if you prefer to have a nature tour than to go to the city for night bazaar or see the city.

Room Tip: Try afternoon tea at Pont Cafe :)

If u only got 1 day or 1 night, if u looking for night life, shopping, don't go there! It is in the middle of the Mountain 1 hour from Chiangmai city. Minimum 2 stay 2full days, lots of activities to do, Zipline, watching or riding elephant, hiking, big swimming pool....there is no other restaurant beside the hotel, however, if u walk 5 mins across the bridge near the elephant farm, there have many street foods, great food but not so clean, only choice the hot dish for ur safety. Or buy some beers n snacks Rawee Waree Resort & spa will change name as : Sib-San Resort & spa on 28 Feb 2014, book it online through "web Sawadee" cheaper 呢間酒店離市區很遠,坐的士1小時, 但是超值,四面環山,酒店房間能看到大象,酒店旁邊有3個大象園

Room Tip: Rm 2012, or ask a room besides the river

It is worth travelling 45 mins away from the city to Rawee Waree resort in Mae Taeng. We visited this place in mid January and the weather was cool in the evening. The greenery, the fresh air and listening to the sound of the water running through tiny stream made this place so heavenly. The entire resort is huge. You can enjoy nature by jogging or walking in this resort. Their café near the river, provides a good place to relax for afternoon tea and you can also see elephants crossing the river. It is simply amazing.

The room is spacious and clean. The beds and pillows are comfortable. We like the design of the room and all the amenities inside the room. The staffs are very friendly. They helped us in arranging the elephant ride and even gone to the extent of sending us to the elephant camp which is next to the resort.

The only thing disappointing was the food at their restaurant. Many dishes in their menu were not available.

Overall, it was a fantastic stay. We would definitely come back again and will stay more nights the next time...
