Owner description: Champagne Thierry Rodez is situated in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. Thierry is a fifth generation winemaker. We are a small champagne producer with 3.4 hectares of vines. Our grapes are pressed, vinified and sold on site. We are open year round (except August) and are always delighted to welcome guests for a tour and degustation of our champagne if we're home (please call ahead!). We look forward to sharing our news and stories with all, especially those interested in the lifestyle of a small and traditional vigneron champenois.

We visited early in the new year when I was expecting most of the Champagne houses to be closed. I had arranged our visit beforehand by email with Jessie and I would recommend people do this. What can I say other than it was perfect. Jessie showed my wife and I around this small, family run house and caves, spending time explaining the process and the rigours of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée. Afterwards we sat at the table sharing a wonderful bottle of Thierry Rodez discussing champagne and life generally. This was a welcome change to being lectured about the virtues of a vintage from behind a counter whilst sipping from plastic beakers. The champagne was wonderful and very reasonably priced but the experience was priceless.

This is our second visit to Champagne Thierry Rodez & we like it so much we could not visit the region without a visit to Thierry & Jessie. They are warm friendly hosts & have plenty of tips on this most sacred tipple! They always share a glass or two with us & their champagne is exceptional value for the quality. Thierry usually has a joke that is translated by his better half & it never fails to make us laugh. These people are a champagne region treasure & we will visit them again.

The Rodez family made us feel very welcome as they showed us their champagne house. We read the reviews on TripAdvisor and contacted Jessi by phone. She was very accommodating and we made arrangements for our visit the same day.
She speaks wonderful English and explained everything to us about the farming, gathering, processing, and storing of the champagne. The tasting was very enjoyable as well.
Visiting the underground cellar was a memorable experience....it was during a strong thunderstorm. Jessi had expressed a little concern about her husband,Thierry, being out in the vineyard on the tractor in the storm, as he had no cover over the cab. As she was explaining how they turn each bottle during one phase of the fermentation, suddenly the lights went out, and we assumed the storm was getting worse. After a few seconds they cameback on and Thierry poked his head into the room with a big grin. He was fooling with us - and we all got a good laugh.
I highly recommend this family - and their products as well. We purchased several bottles to bring home with us and have enjoyed their lovely champagne.

Thanks to Tripadvisor recommendations we had a wonderful experience visiting family run champagne house of Thierry Rodez.
I booked my visit in advance (you can get their info from website). We made it as a day trip from our Belgium trip.
Our tour guide was Thierry`s wife Jessie, who speaks very good English (In fact she lived in Canada for some time). Jessie was very detailed in explaining whole champagne making proccess and gave us a good family history, which made us appreciate their champage even more. Thierry joined us during tasting. He doesn`t speak any english (which we found very charming and authentic) , so Jessie was translating back and force and we had a very good conversation.
The whole visit and tasting was very intimate and I can ensure you, that you won`t get it at any big champagne house visit (we visited "Pommery" champagne house(at expensive price) at previous visits to Champagne region and it wasn`t even close as good as this one. At the end we bought some bottles to take home at exellent price.
So, do yourself a favor, rent a car, drive through gorgeous Champagne fields and visit " Thierry Rodez" champagne house for the great experience.
Thank you Thierry and Jessie for your hospitality!!!!!
Visiting family from Canada.
