We spent a few days at the end of 2017 here, and were so lucky to see it in full snow, the most wonderful panorama in the morning light!
Very easily accessible, but quiet place, where you can enjoy the complete independence but the host is close if you need anything. The house seems small on the photos but it has very good distribution inside between the rooms, so you get an entrance, big bathroom, well-equipped and large kitchen-dining-living area, plus the spacious bedrooms upstairs.
The heating is effective with the aircon set, we felt very comfortable and warm.
The wifi was strong too.
We watched the TV a few times (New Year´s concert from Vienna) but if a film is not Slovenian production, they don´t dub it but subtitled only, for same reason you can see movies in the cinema on the original language too (which is a big advantage vs. Hungary).
Many restaurants/shops/shopping centers can be found nearby in Slo. Bistrica, one great pizza place is just a short walking distance (Picerija Gams).
We made a day trip to see Maribor, and some walks to the forest and mountains, and I wished to be able to stay longer and discover more of this lovely country!
Many thanks for Alenka and the family, also for the lovely welcome gift. We found the local wines are excellent, and looking forward to try more.
A combination of great location, great property and excellent hosts. Alenka, the owner, was so easy to communicate with before arrival (make sure you follow her instructions on finding the house), but she was even better once we arrived, giving us great tips on things to do both in the immediate area and all around Slovenia. By the end of my six-night stay I felt like I had truly experienced Slovenia, much in thanks to Alenka and her husband (plus their two darling kids).
The property is just as described: perched on a hilltop overlooking several small vineyards. Excellent views no matter where you look. The bathroom was spacious, the kitchen was well-equipped, the living area was small but comfortable, and the bedrooms upstairs would be perfect for a couple or a family. We used the patio outside quite a bit even though it was quite cold a few days.
My 4-year old son had the time of his life around the property; it's so kid-friendly (and it's great that they also allow dogs). All in all, this was a great holiday experience. I'd recommend it as a stopover, but I'd really suggest trying to stay longer. It will be time well spent!
