The Foxes

We arrived to find a Canadian flag flying in our honour. We loved every minute of our stay with Margaret Fox at The Foxes B&B. Margaret has a wonderful talent as hostess and went out of her way to make our stay a truly special part of our trip to New Zealand. The nearby Abel Tasman National Park was spectacular and if it weren't for the fact that we wanted to tour around the area I would have just loved to sit back and admire the gardens and views from The Foxes balcony. The room, linens, food everything was top notch and I would highly recommend staying there. It was a real treat!

Room Tip: Both rooms were exceptional with private entrances.

I couldn't agree more with the reviews given for this wonderful B&B. Margaret and Horton (her trusty schnauzer) were wonderful hosts. The surroundings and views are breathtaking and the breakfasts everything you could ask for and more (homemade honey made from the neighbors beehives)! Our rooms were lovely (we were traveling with another couple) including our fresh fruit, sherry and special "treats" left for us each evening. Margaret even surprised me by washing (and doing some extra scrubbing) on a muddied pair of hiking shorts I left out to dry. Thank you again, Margaret! Your place was a one of the highlights of our trip.

What a wonderful surprise. When we decided to extend our stay in the Nelson area
'The Foxes' was recommended by local friends. And Margaret was good enough to take us as last minute guests.
The Foxes is a luxury B&B set in beautiful gardens overlooking Ruby Bay. We were only able to stay two nights and, after long busy days sightseeing and catching up with friends, it was bliss to return to our quietly elegant suite. The room had a lovely private deck, luxuriously comfortable beds, very comfortably easy chairs and a spectacular bathroom featuring a one- way glassed window over looking the view and gardens.
As other reviewers have commented, Margaret is a charming hostess, Although we didn't dine in we did enjoy our two breakfasts especially the choice of fresh local fruit salad, delicious local preserves and choice of breads. After days of marvellous Nelson hospitality, we opted out of cooked breakfasts in consideration of our waistlines.
It was interesting to learn that Margaret grew up in the Tasman area and is very well versed in its history and many wonderful attractions attractions. She and her husband have also travelled extensively and have a clear idea of what we were looking for as guests.

We loved Horton too! How could one not? Horton is a very engaging, beautifully trained, Schnauzer who escourted us to our suite the first night and waited patiently outside our room the following morning before accompanying us to breakfast .
Thank you Margaret for having us to stay we would not hesitate to recommend 'The Foxes' to others.

Room Tip: I understand there are only two rooms. Our Suite was of a very high standard and I'm sure the ot...

You always hope you have made a good choice when you select your holiday accommodation. Well when we chose The Foxes we made a GREAT choice. It is a beautiful place to stay and yes the website description is absolutely true. Relaxing, peaceful, luxurious and well located for whatever activity you wish to do. The room was superb, the gardens beautiful and what a view of the bay as you sip your wine. Margaret you are an incredible host and Horton must be the coolest schnauzer ever!
We will definitely be back.

I wanted to treat myself and staying at The Foxes was exactly that. Margaret is such a warm and welcoming hostess. I woke after an extremely comfortable sleep to beautiful views including the extensive private grounds The Foxes is situated upon. A delicious breakfast followed by use of The Foxes beach bag (which was a welcomed suprise and much appreciated as I'd forgotten my sunhat!). Margaret seems to have thought of everything and if you're after something extra special, I cant recommend this B&B enough!

My husband and I recently stumbled upon this gem of a bed and breakfast while traveling through New Zealand and were immediately in love! Margaret, our lovely host and her adorable miniature schnauzer, Horton, greeted us as we pulled up the quiet gravel road into this beautiful oasis overlooking Ruby Bay. The room was bright and beautiful with a little terrace and an unbelievable view of the grounds' pristine gardens and the turquoise bay below. We felt at home (but a better version) right away. Margaret had some great suggestions for sightseeing and restaurants close by and would chat with us during breakfast- we really enjoyed being around her (a great host, but also a really interesting, warm and friendly person!) We also appreciated that every place she recommended ended up being right on. I feel like we really lucked out finding this place and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a quiet and simple, but luxurious home away from home in a great area of the South Island.

Room Tip: There are only a few rooms to choose from, but ours had a little terrace which made it even better!

My wife and I stayed in 7 different B&B's during our winter trip to New Zealand. We were amazed by them all, but The Foxes must have been the most luxurious. Everything was top-of-the line...room, bed, bath, gardens, view, breakfasts! Margaret and Horton were perfect hosts. Unfortunately, we were so busy with activities, we didn't get to spend as much time with them as we would have liked! If you're in the area, don't skip this one.
