We were a booking of 16 who had lunch at this cafe. We were seated and left for at least 20 mins before our orders were taken. Despite being a single booking, we were seated at two table and and first table had basically finished their meals before the second table received theirs. The food was lovely although no-one knew how to say the name of the pasta I ordered, even the waitress. There was only one chef on despite the cafe having around 30 patrons. Staff were friendly but seemed overworked as it took a long time to receive drinks, meals, etc. I also tried to order a hot chocolate to take away on leaving, but they had none. Meals were highly commended by all who ate but would have like it to not take so long. Also, it was very cold inside the seated area.

We live on the doorstep but took our first visit for lunch yesterday. Very friendly and professional staff, lovely food and wine. Good that the chef comes out when he can to chat.....it's always good to see who's cooking! It will be a new regular place for us. The evening venue (Fox & Grapes) looks like it needs some work though to be made attractive.

Thanks for your review, great to hear you enjoyed your meal. The Fox n Grapes has a real rustic charm and is lined out with new rough-sawn timber. Next time you're out, ask us to show you through the bar as I think you will be pleasantly surprised at this rough diamond.

My wife and I had lunch here by accident one week day recently and we are so glad we discovered it. We had been doing a week's tour of Marlborough and Nelson and had had a few winery lunches and this would be amongst the best. Luckily for me the cajun prawns were a bit too hot for my wife so I got the lot and they were fantastic as was the salad. I was prepared to stay the day and drink/sleep it off but the boss dragged me away to the next on the list but we would definetly go back. Great view as well to go with the meal and very friendly staff.
