We stayed at Jibreen Hotel before crossing the desert to Salalah, an 888 km drive (distance sign in front of the hotel). We chose it merely as a final stopover before the boredom but were pleasantly surprised: clean, incredibly big room (actually an apartment with two rooms, large bathroom and a small kitchen), all for a reasonable price.

Jibreen is a short drive from Nizwa, Bahla and al-Hamra, so it's easy to check out the region based here.

Breakfast was not top notch but very sympathetic with two guys running the show in a quiet dining room, other operating an omelette station. Didn't need to hit the road hungry.

Easy to find when arriving in Bahla. Very quiet surroundings, beautifull view on the mountains, 4 years young hotel with absolutely great service !! Nice, large and clean rooms in a quiet environment. The big bed is the biggest bed i have ever seen. (And i visited quite some hotels in my life) Very good food in the hotel restaurant. A lovely place to be with very kind and helpful staf. The reception desk gave me sound advice to plan my next days, together with a detailed map of the whole country. Rarely enjoyed such great service!! So far, this is the best hotel in Oman for us. (And we tried some 4 star places before landing here !)

Room Tip: Go for the big bed ! It's so huge that a cat will not find her kittens in there :-)

Very nice staff and management, clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds. Excellent value but no terrace, pool etc., just the hotel building and parking. Quiet location but internal noise insulation only average. Convenient base to explore the region e.g. Nizwa, Jebel Shams, beautiful Bahla fort nearby. Only 3 minutes off the Nizwa-Al Ain motorway, hence much better than Nizwa hotels (access subject to traffic jams and serious roadwork) for a quick overnight stay. Restaurant has fresh but basic food, cross the road for a delicious Turkish grill.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are slightly bigger.

Got a nice twin room here on our way back from Salalah. Camped in the Rub Al Khali the night before, so the showers were tested. Water pressure on the low side and the shower uses the bathroom floor for drainage. Drainage not very good though - so had wet feet going to the bathroom all night and the following morning. Good internet connection. Friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms may have better water pressure.

We spent one night on our way from Dubai to Muscat.
The reception was very good, efficient and friendly. We were upgraded to a suit, so the accommodation was very spacious.
Interior is oriental. There was a quite strong odeur in the room.
Breakfast was good.

The hotel is a large building that stands near the Jibreen / Bahla junction and is very convenient for the unmissable Jibreen Castle, and also for Nizwa and Bahla Fort.
A very warm welcome from a very nice Syrian lady awaited at the Jibreen Hotel; she runs reception and front of house with her two brothers who are also very friendly and helpful and know the local area well and can assist with directions and itineraries.
I was upgraded to a suite on the fourth floor, and this proved to be an extremely large space with a full-sized sitting room with television, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a big bedroom.
The hotel is furnished throughout in an extravagant Arabic style: gilt rococo furniture with bright, exuberant upholstery; gilded and sequinned table mats for the marble-topped coffee tables in reception; and, in the suite itself, gold glittery walls, and a ceiling that could pretty much compete with that of the Sistine Chapel! Oh, and don't forget the stained-glass windows in the dining room, or this room's colourful, carved furniture.
Although the hotel is right on the road, traffic noise cannot be heard inside the premises.
This isn't a 'luxury' hotel, but the suite was large and spotlessly clean, the breakfast was more or less ok (and when I asked for extra items these were provided very quickly), and the staff did everything they could to help and were very pleasant. Indeed, the excellent staff at the Jibreen Hotel are a major asset to the business.
If I were to return to the area I would certainly consider staying here again, and I am happy to give it five out of five as an extremely clean hotel in the tourist class where the staff make a real effort to respond to the needs of the traveller.

Room Tip: I didn't see the rooms on lower floors, but can't imagine they'd be the size of the suit...

When visiting the area around Jabrin castle, Bahla fort and Jabel Shams we stayed one night in Jibreen hotel and felt very welcome. The hotel was not very busy and we had the restaurant all to ourselves. The receptionist was extremely helpful and we were treated to a free plate of fresh melon. Hospitality at its best. Good location and very spacious room and bathroom with a peculiar decorating style! A supermarket just across the road to stock up on fruit and water before heading into the mountains. Had a strong "Bagdad Café" feel to it situated right next to a big but rather deserted main road. Would stay there again.
