This is a truely exceptional b&b in a superb location. We were warmly greeted by Robert and Arwel and offered tea and coffee together with an assortment of home made cakes served in the conservatory. The sitting areas offered to guests are comfortable and beautifully furnished offering wonderful views. Our bedroom was spacious, offering all the comfort we would ever need. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower spacious with very good water pressure. A choice of toiletries was there for our selection. A selection of Tea and coffee was in our room and a fresh flask of milk was delivered morning and evening.
Breakfast was plentiful, fresh, very well cooked and presented, offering a wide selection to fit all tastes. We chose to have dinner in the dining room during our stay. This was beautifully served and delicious. The table setting and service was superb. We felt like royalty. Robert and Arwel source local produce for their meals and infact grow their own seasonal vegetables. We would encourage all guests to have an evening meal while visiting.
Thankyou Robert and Arwel for a wonderful stay in your little slice of "heaven on earth." We will certainly be encouraging our fellow Australians to visit you to experience excellent Welsh hospitality.

What a delightful place to spend a holiday! A very warm welcome awaited us and Robert and Arwel looked after us very well over our 5 night stay. The room was very comfortable and well equipped with views over the garden to the hills in the distance. A particular joy was seeing the great spotted woodpecker and other birds on a feeder just outside our window. The food was excellent with a huge range for breakfast and exceptional evening meals. My wife has special dietary requirements which were well catered for.

Room Tip: Carn Ingli for the view

Ael y Bryn is situated in a scenic corner of Wales with fabulous views over Carningli Hill. I reserved this after seeing the pictures of the beautiful rooms on internet. Well, we were not disappointed. The room was beautiful, large and well appointed with a magnificent VIEW! The bed was huge and all together too comfortable because I really had trouble getting out of it in the morning. The lounge and the conservatory are comfortable rooms to relax in and the food is sublime! We had dinner one night and were served a delicious lamb shank and one of the best desserts I ever had, a beautiful lemon posset! The breakfast was also delicious and all very elegantly served. Robert and Arwel are two very friendly hosts that make you feel very welcome in their home. The afternoon tea we had on arrival was much tastier than the one we had had previously in London at a high price. We would definitely go back there again should we choose to revisit that part of Wales.

Room Tip: Choose one of the rooms with the view, like Carningli.

Went on a little holiday treat which was lush. Mother had been with my father before and loved it so I wanted to get in on the luxury.
Well worth having food there but 2courses is plenty otherwise you will be to full. You also get tea and coffee in the lounge afterwards where you can play board games or read a book from their library. Afternoon tea on arrival. It's situated in such a tranquil setting. Owners are very welcoming and attentive. Go there and you won't regret it I promise.

Room Tip: All rooms are fab. The rooms on the west side have views of the stunning garden and surroundings but...

Definitely 5 stars!!! Beautiful, comfortable accommodation and every detail you cold think of provided for your comfort. A friendly welcome from the lovely Robert and Arwel - who were happy to talk or leave you to some peace if needed. The bed was HUGE and the sheets were top quality - a really comfortable, warm and quiet nights sleep. The bathroom was large with a walk in shower and every toiletry you would want. There was even tongs provided in the drawers as well as a rain hat, torch, - I could go on and on here. Lovely teas and herbal catered for and my request for soya milk and de-caff tea was not a problem as they already provide for that. Large and tastefully presented breakfast with an array of fruits, cereals, toast, preserves, cooked and kippers if wanted. Sadly we couldn't stay for dinner but anther couple told us it was just amazing (fab desserts too!) all local and home cooked where possible. The grand piano lounge and library and music room were all available to guests too. Lovely wildlife in the garden....Will definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending this to discerning people..you will not be disappointed! Juts sorry it was for only 2 nights...

Room Tip: I think they were all good from what I heard!

There are no short cuts to this property in rural Wales. On stepping inside it is instantly apparent that no short cuts were taken in designing the swan which emerged from the ugly duckling which had served as hostels for land workers during WW|| prior to holding Italian prisoners of war. No corner was cut during construction nor when selecting materials to produce a remarkably fine finish. Add to this an incredibly detailed list of accessories to satisfy the most discerning guest
and one is left with comfort levels in bedrooms and public rooms alike of undreamed of standard.
We,a party of four in Pengelli and rooms, opted for dinner on each of the three evenings
when making the booking.I am not an epicre but I was immediately aware that I was about to experience something special each time I sat at the regally set table. I enjoyed all that I ate and most of all the souffle prepared by Arwel. Although it was critical that we were seated to appreciate perfection neither he nor Robert, the owner of Ael y Bryn interrupted an impromptu piano with voice, recital by the two ladies.Every thing in the building which will enhance one's stay is freely available. I borrowed a DVD of "Bref Encounter" from the library being curious to learn why it beats" Pretty Woman" or "Gone with the Wind" as the best romantic film. I will not search for superlatives to adequately describe the professionalism of Robert and Arwel . They are exceptional people who offer exceptional hospitality. Absolutely fabulous.

Room Tip: We would pay extra for a suite after seeing one just before we left. I have Parkinsons and spend ti...
