We had a great time at this location, the overlook is great for morning and evening relaxation. The beach is a bit rocky with sea urchins under the water, but we drove to close by beaches for more sand for the kids and to see a variety of things. The rental itself is very nice, really nothing bad about it. I suspect it's one of the best places to rent in area. There might be nicer, but you'll pay more and probably be in some resort. In all I feel I got good value for the price.
Words cannot describe the views from this place! I woke up every morning at 5:30am just to see the sunrise from the top deck. Marielbys & Tommy were very accommodating for our large party. We packed 4 adults, 3 kids and 3 teenagers into the house and apartment. Everyone shared a bed and we managed. The water pressure was a little low. We stayed on the south end of the island the week prior so we were already used to this. We were only inside the house briefly because we spent most of our trip exploring this island. The beach below the house is pretty and the snorkeling is great. You may find several of my fishing lures stuck in the rocks. The best swimming area may be a sandy spot near the rocks. You are right next to Surfer’s beach so we did watch several folks surfing one afternoon. You can walk or drive down to the beach. I suggest walking, it is a cool little adventure.
I recommend renting an SUV so you can access some of the more remote beaches. We ventured all over the island for two weeks and still never saw it all. Lighthouse Beach was one of my favorites but be prepared for a long and rough ride. Plan on spending the day there too. Ben’s Bay beach, Club Med, Forgotten Beach and Rainbow Bay are also nice swimming areas. I also recommend jumping into the Blue Hole, exploring Preacher’s Cave and Hatchet Bay Cave, swimming in the Queen’s Bath and climbing the cliffs at the Glass Window Bridge. For starfish as big as your head and a chance to see turtles, go to the beach past Whale Point.
For fishing, charter a boat in Spanish Wells or you can cast a line from almost any shore. I had the best luck in Current near an old dock near the ferry. I also and caught several grouper at the old Navy receiving ruins at the end of a dirt road past Cocodimama Resort (just south or Governor’s Harbor airport.) You will see sharks and barracudas there. In Gregory town, I recommend the ice cream shop and the gift shop next door is cool to see. Food & gas is expensive! We brought a suitcase of food and snacks.
If you really want a rewarding adventure, I highly recommend volunteering with Bill & Teresa Landers at the Eleuthera Bible Training Center in James Cistern. They have several projects you can do during your stay to give back to this incredible community. Overall, I will be back next year.
It’s a beautiful home and the pictures actually don’t do it justice. We had a girls trip and had a great time there. The island has plenty to do...we enjoyed hiking, caves, snorkeling, and boating. The owners provide a trip planner with all the details you’ll need for an amazing stay.
My husband and I spent the 6 most wonderful, relaxing, and overall amazing honeymoon days at Tom and Marielbys' place in gorgeous Eleuthera. There are truly not enough words to describe how beautiful and fun this trip was for us, but I will try! Our experience began at the airport, which is also the police station. The views of the turquoise water from the plane as we landed were beyond anything we had ever seen. We rented a car from Chris Darling, who was recommended by the hosts. He was probably one of the coolest people we met - super professional, knowledgeable, and down to earth. All of the locals we met were incredibly friendly, helpful, and just so happy! They lead simple, uncluttered lives and their no-worries lifestyle was contagious. As stated in the trip planner, the roads on the island are pretty rough, the speed bumps come out of nowhere, and there are hardly any traffic or street signs. We got lost a few times, and it took a couple of days to get used to driving on the left side, but all of that stuff honestly added to the adventure, and it is all about the attitude you choose to approach these things with. When we got to the house, the first thing we did was go up to the top deck to check out the most amazing views we have ever seen! No picture could ever do that view justice. It was unobstructed, 180 degree views of the Atlantic Ocean, and behind us another 180 degrees of island coast line and vegetation. We spent a lot of our time on that deck, but the overwhelming feeling of how beautiful this place really is never went away. It was like being in a movie. The house was very cute, clean, and spacious. The kitchen was fully stocked, the furniture very comfortable, the main bathroom and shower were huge, and the AC units cooled the rooms down quickly. We explored the Window Glass Bridge, Queen's Bath and Governor's Harbor, but spent most of our days at the beach below the house, which we had completely to ourselves, and our evenings stargazing or watching a movie. The stars were breathtaking. We also really enjoyed all the little spots that we could hang out around the house. There were a couple of days that the wind was a little too strong to sit at the top deck, so we sat at the little bench area instead - this was a very quiet, calm spot on the property. It was a great spot for morning coffee, meditating, and good afternoon conversation. Aside from our location, the highlight of the trip was trying to find fresh fish to cook. We never imagined it would be so difficult to find, but it was very rewarding when we did. We found it 1 out of the 3 or 4 times we tried at the dock in Governor's Harbor, but it was the best, freshest fish we have ever eaten. The check in/out process was easy and self explanatory, and the hosts went above and beyond with communication and attentiveness. Overall this was the best trip we have ever taken, and we cannot wait to be back to enjoy the house, view and hopefully explore more of what the island has to offer!
Thank you Tom and Marielbys for an amazing experience!
We stayed at Eleuthera Villa mid-Nov and had a wonderful stay. The home clean and bright and exactly as depicted in the images. The views from the property positively incredible, feels like you are dreaming. The home is modern and spacious has every amenity you will need to have a wonderful holiday indoors and out. The comprehensive information guide on the property and Eleuthera in general provided by the owners post-booking was so very valuable. Take the time to read every word and bring a copy with you. Had an wonderful holiday at Eleuthera Villa.
We stayed 8 days at Eleuthera Villa and had a wonderful vacation. The home itself had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. My son loved the DVD selection. We especially liked the loft area were we could take naps or relax and watch TV. The views from the upper deck were amazing. We enjoyed watching sunrises from the deck:). Surfers beach had huge waves and my son and husband enjoyed getting pummeled by the waves:). We did a lot of beach hopping this year and saw many amazing beaches including Tay Bay beach, French Leave beach, and Rainbow beach. Daddy Joe's restaurant was a favorite. We can't wait to come back next year!
All the photos and descriptions are excellent. It's an amazing house with everything you need while on vacation. We had the best time.
