We found The Cove while driving around the island and decided to stop. Wow! We found our home. The most beautiful and relaxed resort. You have to visit this place. Everyone smiled and greeted us with warmth and real desire to see that we are enjoying ourselves. The kids played football on the beach while we went out on the paddles boards. The kids used the infinity pool, my husband and I enjoyed the gym. The food is delicious. I love the decorating too. Perfect place to do yoga or lay on the many hammocks.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great. Certain ones face the ocean.

The COVE is an amazing place surrounded by the pristine blue waters of the Bahama's!!
It is easy to get there so you can go for a weekend refresher if your time is limited. Lots of privacy, wonderful food, many activities you can do ... or just veg with a message! They have bikes on property and a movie theater is coming- workout facilities, snorkling/fishing trips.... and much more!!
Great for couples (we went on a 20th anniversary trip) but also very family friendly.
The sunsets are unbelievable too!!

Room Tip: rooms without great views are still nice and offer a more affordable option!

Summary: The Cove is definitely a luxury experience. The setting is stunning, the island is charming and it is a great place to unplug. I would definitely recommend it, with some caveats. Please see my special note below regarding the resident DOGS and CATS on the property!

Pros:
*We stayed in a 1-BR suite. It was very large, clean and modern.
*With one exception we had amazing service from all staff
*Grounds are beautiful with palm trees, hammocks and outdoor couches aplenty
*Beaches are lovely - groomed (yes, raked!) daily
*Shallow water in both coves is great for water activities
*Beach service was great
*Jeep rental was convenient and the vehicle was newer than we anticipated
*Your taxi driver will most likely be Wallace. He is professional, knowledgeable and gracious. Leverage him for information about all things Eleuthera. Navigating the airport, finding the best conch, locating places of worship, or tips on driving your rental car safely.
*Tropical climates mean creepy crawlies, and The Cove does an amazing job of keeping them out of the rooms. My guess is that this may be why the buildings there have an odd smell that will stay on your clothes through multiple washings. Totally worth it.

Cons:
*FOOD was disappointing. It may be that the menu they were serving the week we were there was just particularly uninspired, but while presentation was impressive, flavor and creativity were lacking. We also had issues with special requests. I know ingredients (and food in general) on Eleuthera are hard to come by and very expensive, but we felt this was the weak point of the resort. Especially since if you don't rent a car or hire a taxi you pretty much have to eat all of your meals there.
*Tip, tip, tip, tip. Just be ready for it at The Cove and all over the island.
*You are pretty isolated at The Cove. You are a relatively short (but straight uphill) bike ride from Gregory Town, which has a handful of shops and restaurants. Bikes are readily available but not well maintained. Car rental or taxi rides are really the only way to see the island.

NOTE ON RESIDENT CATS AND DOGS: If you are an animal lover (which we are!!), this is a special treat. If you are anxious around dogs, you may want to think twice before visiting. There are two large gentle "hotel" dogs and then when the owner is there he adds his three large gentle dogs to the mix. They are allowed all over the property and even inside the restaurant during dinner. We loved it, but if I was anxious around dogs I would have spent the entire trip in my room. A small colony of cats live on the grounds too, but they keep more distance. You can coax them into socializing with you if you want.

Room Tip: Use the map they have on the website as a guide so you are clear on the location of the unit you are reserving. Don't expect upgrades.

Greetings from the Cove! We greatly appreciated your valuable feedback.
We are pleased to hear that you had a luxury experience. We are however saddened that our dinning & menu options at our three different venues did not meet your expectations during your stay. The majority of our guests praise the quality of our cuisine & dining options. Next time you join us, please feel free to ask for other options, as we would have tried our very best to accommodate your every need.

We have our owner's three dogs and two hotel dogs which were rescued. Our guests love them being around. If any of our guest does not like the dogs our owner immediately takes them away to his residence.

Thank you for your compliments on ours services and staff. Your words of encouragement are our source of inspiration.

I call it The Dream Resort, since the owner Sydney Torres has a DREAM. Offer High Quality Service, High Quality Food combine with a wonderful resort/location and they will RETURN. Sydney keep working I LOVE YOUR DREAM and PASSION. I was impressed of his hands on approach, and his ability to make you feel like you are one of the owners. Really wants your feedback, good or bad, he wants it to improve. His beautiful fiancée Jennifer was their putting up Christmas Trees and decorating. This is truly a family affair.

OK, let’s talk Rooms. I stayed in Room 22, Ocean (Beach) Front, and Nice. View was wonderful my wife LOVED the Beds, really comfortable, Room Service was Fast and efficient. AC was good, and Direct TV was NICE to stay somewhat in touch. Molton Brown Creams where yummy in the shower. The Internet which is FREE, was fast and never let me down. Since I am what folks call a BVaca (Business Vacationer) it is a must. It also works everywhere on the property.
Beach area was wonderful, great beach attendees, water, drinks food, ask and you will receive. You can also rent a Jeep on the resort and explore the Island. We went to Harbor Island and it was Beautiful. Pink SANDS no kidding, and we met the QUEEN of CONCH, great lunch.
Sunset Bar is a must. Look at my pictures of some of the most spectacular Sunsets anywhere. We met some nice folks from Brussels who loved the Sunset bar.

The Gym was just finished looked great, and the SPA is being finished. A new welcome center is underway and I look forward to seeing it once completed. We did have a room massage, the young man was FANTASTIC, Thank you.

The Restaurant and Bar, have wonderful views, and the food was good. Shrimp Risotto and Filet where great, Stone Crabs are a must, also the daily breakfast was fantastic. Then you have JOHN. Sushi all you want, how you want it, let him create a plate for you, wow, the Sushi was great. Locals where coming in just to try the Sushi. Thank you JOHN.

I also want to Thank Ugene for great drinks, Gembo (Elvis) he was everywhere making sure you are happy, Chungmo she was great at breakfast, Shameka Front Desk, very prompt on her emails to the resort and was there to welcome us. Chorton the GM, Thank you for always being their. I know I missed our Sunset Bartender he is a very nice young man and overall thanks to all the STAFF for making our Anniversary so special.

It was hard to find something that was so wrong that I need to write about it. YES they are growing, YES you may find some things slow, or just not to your liking, just tell them. We did. 30 Minutes from Miami or Ft Lauderdale makes it easy.

I APPRECIATE THE HARD WORK Sydney and his team are putting in THE COVE. I have lived that DREAM in my own companies. I recommend you Fly in to NORTH ELEUTHERA airport and take a car or have the resort pick you up and let me know if you also believe in what Sydney is selling. Happy Dreams.

Room Tip: Room 22 was great,

We recently visited The Cove and it was really fantastic. The rooms and property are immaculately maintained and absolutely beautiful. The beaches and beachside service are really awesome. We enjoyed the outdoor lunch restaurant, all of our choices and drinks were fantastic. The food was a little expensive at times, but the prices are not that far off at outside restaurants. And we really loved the sushi. It was really nice to go on an island getaway and have many fresh, non-fried options. That was a bonus. Chorton and other staff were very friendly and helpful. We brought our two small children and they loved how friendly the Cove staff was. We do plan to return. It's really spectacular what the owner has developed here.

The only challenge we really had (and this is not a reflection on The Cove) was the day we decided to venture off the property. We started out early heading to Governor’s Harbor. I believe it was a Sunday so many places were not open for breakfast that morning so we ended up driving around for a few hours before finally finding Tippy’s which didn’t open until noon. The nearby Laughing Lizard café is said to be good but check with the hotel to see if they can find out if it’s open before you head that way. We would also recommend visiting nearby Daddy Jos for dinner or music on a weekend night. That was cool.

Room Tip: The suite was perfect for us with two small children.
