The best feature of this property is the view---splendid ! You look from the back deck directly onto the water and what appears to be a natural aquarium below. You don't readily see the fish until diving in with a mask and snorkel. Sting ray,sea turtles, tropical fish, coral....you can also venture out into the ocean for a swim along the clifts. The steps leading down to the water are a little scarey but you get used to them.As for the house it is "rustic" with a beautiful knotty pine interior, ample space and solid construction. The furniture could use an upgrade but it is functional. No Wifi or TV took a little getting used to but the quiet and solitude was a welcome change (could be tough for kids). One neighbor next door but not at all intrusive. Overall a unique experience and I hope to return someday.
We stayed at this house in Nov 2016! We will absolutely stay here again, it was excellent. The house, the people and the island. Scott was easy to rent from and work with. Here are a few tips if you go:
1. Read the guest books at the house the first day! Will give you LOTS of info for the island.
2. Get to know the locals! We were a bit nervous our first day as we arrived near dark and didn't have our bearings, but as soon as we started interacting with the locals, we loved the place!
3. Plan plenty of time at the house, we found our self sitting on the deck watching the ocean and the "giant aquarium" below for hours! Snorkeling at the house, we saw moray eels, an eagle ray, sting rays, lion fish, puffer fish, sea turtles, angel fish and much more just at the house.
We would absolutely go back and have already given the link to this house to 4 other couples considering a trip to Eleuthera after seeing my wife's Instagram pics.
Thanks Scott, Eric & Amelia Villeneuve
Perfect house for couple who enjoy getting away from it all. Great location with groceries and restaurants close by. You must rent a car to explore the island, the owner offers a nice one if you wish to do a packaged deal. Comfortable, clean, private and nice. Hard to say enough good things about the house or the location. Good communication from the owner as well. If you are looking for a place near Gregory Town and surfers beach for 2 this is your place.
I was enchanted by this place.
I spent my time at the house, sitting on the deck in a chair taking in the beauty if the vast ocean and crystal clear water and warm lovely breazes.
Then I would take the stone stairway down into the lagoon and sit with my feet in the water and talk to all the colored fish that would come and visit. I also liked to snorkel around the big Rocks and see the coral and
Fish. I also came close to a very large nurse shark.
All of my senses were captivated by the beauty all around.
I hope to return soon.
We stayed 5 days at Bahama Sunset in August. It is a lovely house with a wonderful deck above the sea. Best spot for snorkeling : many fishes, even turtles (morning and evening).
Sunset are so beautiful...
A/C was useful at night.
Gregory town is also very pleasant little town with friendly people.
I wish we could stay longer !
My wife and I stayed at this property for 8 days. We could have stayed 8 months just as easily. It is a very well maintained home above what might be the best snorkel spot on the entire island. We rented Scott's car while there and we highly recommend you do the same if you go. On an island that is approximately 110 miles long with 134 beaches you'll be glad you have the car. Phillip provides a great service as a contact and caretaker during your stay. He lives right in town and is always a phone call away. In 8 days we only made it 1/2 way down the island twice. We stopped at Governor's Harbor then came back both times. That way we'll have new destinations next time we stay at Bahama Sunset. Eat at Daddy Joes, Unca Gene's and Franco's restaurant right in Gregory Town. In Governors Harbor we ate at Pascal's and Tippy's. Both were very good. Our favorite beach was just a short drive north, Gaulding Beach. The entrance is right across the road from Daddy Joe's restaurant. There is a little island in the bay there with good snorkeling. I'll end the review with a list of things we saw in the lagoon right at the house. Caribbean spiny lobster (approx. 2'), huge crab, moon jellyfish, Hawksbill turtles, huge mollusk, lionfish(boo, hiss), Nassau grouper, Conch, reef shark, tarpon, sergeant major, trumpet fish, butterfly fish, skate, rock beauty, parrot fish, gray angelfish, sand diver, blue tang, fairy basslet, yellowtail snapper, stoplight parrotfish, french angelfish, feather duster, fan worms, staghorn coral, blue fan coral, sponges, fire coral, brain coral
