We had several receptions here and a gorgeous banquet on the lawn in connection with a scientific conference. The setting is breathtaking, and the building is beautiful. Their local wines are delicious.

When in Prato or florence don't miss to visit Villa Medicea.
It's an ancient Villa owned by Medici Family of the 15th century.
This villa is famous also because was made by the most famous Medici: Lorenzo il Magnifico!!!!!!
Beautiful villa, beautiful wall painting and a great garden.

All the best places to visit in Tuscany are free or cost next to nothing. I understand that the villa Medicae are all free to visit. However, they can be a little hard to find by public transport (not this one, the bus stops pretty much outside it) and/or involve a lot of walking to get to and entry times can be restricted and change from time to time. The website times are often wrong and sometimes they just dont open the place. So having written that they are free, by the time you visit, they may have decided to charge a fee for entry, or at least for non-Italian citizens.
My suggestion for visitors to Florence is to avoid Florence for the most part which is too crowded and to get out to the countryside. As always, none of the so-called "must dos" are by any means unique. There are MANY examples of fine villas, fine Michaelangelo sculptures, fine al frescos etc. Sometimes they might just be there for you to admire in a train station or small church. There is no need to queue for hours, line up like lemmings or join some production line tour.

It is interestimg to see this Medici villa vrensted by Sangallo for Lorenzo il Magnifico in 1480! This is Unesco World Heritage and it is free of charge. It has been altered several times since then in the 16th,17th and 18th centuies and at present parts are restaured

The gardens are beatiful - very large with both "geometric" and wild sections.

The palace is very impressive, yet very neglected.

They do not speak English nor do they have any written information in English and in most rooms of the palace the information presented is only in Italian.
You can Enter only in specific times - all visitors are gathered into a group and accompanied by guides (to be exact - they are kind of guards, as they don't provide any info, only watching that no-one touches anything)
