The room was great, bit of a shock to see a drone hovering outside our bedroom but there was a wedding party on the terrace.
The television did not have subtitles which for a hearing impaired person is very annoying. Asked at reception and was told housekeeping would be up to see us. After a couple of hours went down to reception and was told that they asked housekeeping but they don’t have facilities for subtitles. Would have been nice to have been informed!!
Rest of staff we encountered were great especially the breakfast room crew.

We had attempted to visit on previous occasions but due to family difficulties, to be fair the hotel had been very accommodating in changing the date of our stay on 2 occasions. On arrival at 10.45am, we were promptly given access to our rooms which were actually really nice (we had been worried by some of the negative reviews), spacious, clean and lovely bathroom with both bath and shower. The coffee making facilities in the room were good, lovely proper coffee bags, and nice toiletries supplied and lovely fluffy white towels. Our hubbies were playing golf and we had a 50 minute spa treatment included in our package. It's clear that the spa is not the focus of the hotel but there are plans to upgrade. Our expectations were probably not that high, and the pedicures were passable, the included light buffet lunch was unexpectedly nice with a good choice of hot and cold dishes. The evening meal was pretty good other than a mix up with haddock and cod! and the restaurant service was attentive and friendly, if a little slow. The buffet breakfast was excellent, the quality of the ingredients on offer was good, everything tasted of what it should. I think the overriding factors here are: the hotel is under relatively recent new ownership and plans for any refurbishment are going to take planning, time and probably a serious amount of money. In the meantime, the place probably needs to up it's game in terms of staffing. The staff were all working hard and trying to service the numbers of guests. One person on the bar during the busy times is just not enough and actually revenue would be increased if the service was quicker. On another positive note, my husband left his wallet in the room - this had been handed in to Reception. Their honestly is much appreciated. On balance, Hellidon is very worth a visit, particularly if you are a golfer, but try and cut the staff some slack, they are working hard under difficult circumstances, so our thanks to them all.

Room Tip: Opt for the superior, it is probably worth the extra money

Had a great long weekend at this hotel which is definitely targeted at golf-loving visitors (which we are).
Lovely scenery, really good golf courses (3 x 9-holes), very friendly staff, good restaurant food, nice bar area to relax in .....
They had a wedding while we were there and it didn't interfere with our stay at all.
If there was anything that needed attention, I thought some of the furniture coverings could do with cleaning.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
I'd definitely go again.

10 of us stayed here for Golf 20/21st Sept. This is NOT 4 Star prob 2 Star. Bar Food was Ok, but expensive, Dinner and serving staff were good.
Had NO WATER for 3 hours and were told it was pressure. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE! The whole block had NO WATER NOT EVEN A FLUSHING TOILET!!!!took them 2 hours before calling plumber..(Manager not fit for purpose) Poorly run. Bar service was a joke as took ages when busy as only 1 bar staff. Downstairs Bar (when open) was damp and dull only half the lights work as the bulbs had gone everywhere else. Still advertising as Q Hotels..Not a member of the group. Needs to be closed and total refit. Room was in the eves and nowhere to dry towels as no radiator. They were disgusting. Humidifier in room tells you there is a problem! Golf Courses are good everything else sub standard at best. Really a 0 Start rating if I could. To be honest should have requested money back and then make an offer of payment! £100 for 2 nights max and that is because the Golf was good.

Room Tip: Dont stay here until they refurb
