“Amazing Experience - very surreal”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

We decided to tick another item off our bucket list and go Hot Air Ballooning while in Chiang Mai... So pleased we did - we spent a very enjoyable morning with our extremely professional Dutch Pilot Wout Bakker. We were picked up promptly at 6.00am from our Hotel, offered refreshments while we watched the Balloon be inflated and then we were off drifting over the countryside with the only sounds being the burners and the barking dogs. It was such a buzz to see people come out of their houses to wave to us... It is quite warm in the basket so don’t get too rugged up. The landing was super smooth despite landing in a harvested rice paddy due to the fickle winds but the ground crew were quick to arrive and pull us back to dry land where we disembarked without getting our feet wet – we did provide some excitement for the locals... While the guys packed up the balloon we wandered over to look at a local temple then were driven back to Horizon Village & Tweechol Botanic Garden (our departure point) to have breakfast and our Champagne Ceremony before being delivered back to our motel at around 10.30am. As this may be the only balloon flight we get to take we were so pleased it was with Wout. He even emailed us some extra photos that he took. We have no hesitations to recommend these guys if you are thinking about Ballooning. Chiang Mai was a very scenic place to get a bird’s eye view.

“AMAZING a must do in Chiang Mai”
Reviewed 7 May 2013 via mobile

We booked this experience direct through our hotel (U Chiang Mai) as it is low season we were warned it would go ahead weather permitting, we were lucky the weather was good - blues skies :)
We were picked up at 5.45am yes its early but well worth it! Win our pilot was very friendly & informative, happy taking pictures for us & pointing out landmarks etc. At all times we felt 100% safe the safety is of a world standard. The cost is a little high by Thai "tour" standard but is comparable with how much the experience would cost in other countries however this experience is made more special by the the added inclusion of breakfast & champagne "ceremony". Definately a must do whilst in Chiang Mai.

“Don't miss this! Amazing”
Reviewed 27 March 2013

What a wonderful experience. We were picked up at our hotel and had tea, coffee and biscuits as the balloon was inflated. Our pilot was Wout Bakker, a very experienced Dutch balloon pilot. The morning was a little foggy but Wout managed to bring us nice and low so we could enjoy the wonderful view. We were gently floating over rice paddies, villages, farm lands and temples and everybody stopped to wave.
On landing you are presented with a certificate and partake in a traditional balloon ceremony with champagne being poured on each passengers head. There was also an awesome Thai and western buffet breakfast where we enjoyed hearing about Wout's balloon adventures around the world. Even if you are scared of heights, you will love this expereince. It's so gentle and peaceful, you forget you're even flying.

“Just fantastic”
Reviewed 16 January 2013

It was first time for me...and what an experience. Right from the time of booking to the actual day of flight, everything was handled very professionally by these guys. Wout Bakker, who is the owner and also the pilot is a gem of a guy. He loves flying balloons and he is an expert in his trade. They picked me up from the hotel in the morning around 6:30 am and when I reached there they were setting up the balloon. While they were setting up the balloon, the passengers enjoyed the coffee and cookies. Seeing the balloon being blown up is a treat to watch. Wout himself took charge of burners during the blowing up process. When up in the sky, Wout explained about the intricacies of flying balloon. He also talked about the various things that we can watch from the height in the balloon. Wout really loves what he is doing. He also took very good group photos of us in the balloon at the height. The descent and landing were very smooth. The balloon landed in the paddy field and Wout was at his best with all his skills. It indeed was a very good experience. After the flight we drove to a place where very good breakfast was arranged and also the Champagne. I must say i was quite happy with my experience. Though a little pricey, but I would still recommend this activity.
