“Beautiful!”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

Was in this hotel for a regional workshop! An excellent environment (Botanical Garden, Zoo etc. etc). Quiet and calm. The owner is a wonderful lady..with a smile - always. Front office staff were great and professional. Would really go there again. Food was great. Would highly recomend for business visits, conferences, holidays - simply its a place for purpose!

I have stayed at Horizon Village & Resort twice, once for a 9 day retreat, and again recently on business. If you are looking for a respite from the city, or need a place to de-stress, this is the place. It is set on the same grounds as the expansive Tweechol Botanical Gardens, which is extremely impressive in itself. You can walk out of you room and into the gorgeous and well kept, perfectly manicured gardens which sport amazing collection of orchids, roses, succulents, etc., and even a small zoo with quite an impressive assortment of species.

The rooms (in the main areas surrounding the reception pavilion) are generously sized, with outside sitting areas and garden views. Lovely minimalist traditional design, nothing too extravagant. See the uploaded photo of room 37. The only downside of this room was some drainage issues in the bathroom, which led to water pooling on the floor outside the shower. It was an irritant, but only a minor one.

There is nice swimming pool in the main hotel area. I should note that there are at least three clusters of rooms associated with this hotel, which are quite different from one another, but all seem inviting.

You will get your exercise staying here, as things are quite spread out. It is possible to rent bicycles, which is the best way to explore the botanical gardens. The hotel is quite a ways out of Chiang Mai, but provides a free shuttle service into the city and back (and to/from airport).

This is just a beautiful place, highly recommended for retreat and relaxation. Not good though if your main objective is to explore Chiang Mai city.

I live in Chiang Mai 6 months each year and have visited Horizon Village & Resort/Tweechol Botanic Gardens twice in the past two months. This is a PERFECT retreat from the busyness of the city with a short travel time. BalloonAdventureThailand now has a permanent launch site next to the main lobby and I highly recommend taking this opportunity to see the Thai country side from the air, which I've done twice. Even if you don't go up in the balloon, take a morning to be there for the 6:30am launching and bring your camera.

A quiet hotel in a beautiful surrounding. Certainly for those seeking a more relaxing place. room is nice and clean with a little terrace to sit. Staff is very friendly. However we were not very pleased with the breakfast. The restaurant looks like a cantine. very noisy and comparable to the resort not at all cosy. Breakfast also not very tempting although quite a variety for vegetarians its limited to fruits and bread.

This hotel is quite far from Chaing Mai - 30 minutes, but the location is so beautiful, just like on the photos, lovely big rooms, great gardens, right next to botanical gardens with trees, animals and lots of space for walking. You would not find such a lovely location in Chaing Mai, but if you want to travel there frequently you might find it inconvenient. Especially that you need to get there to go on any 1-day tours.

Free shuttle for night market is very useful.
Taxi can be expensive but you can get a but to stop right outside, just take one of the small buses (yellow) if they go to Doi Saket, they all pass right next to Horizon village and you will pay 25 in stead of 500 Bhaat for taxi.

Breakfast is good and has a very wide selection of fruits and other food, delicious omelettes, especially recommend salads, all organic and grown right next to the hotel, they also have certification that it it is clean.

Swimming pools are great. Rooms are big and very nice, all is new.

Ah, and go to feed the fished in the hotel feeding spot, they are very big and it's fun to do.

One inconvenience is that the dinner restaurant is quite expensive and food is terrible there, nothing else to eat around, we walked 5 minutes to the right along main road to get street food at times (very nice but tiny, small choice and nothing written in English) or used shuttle bus to have dinner at the night market.

Staff are very friendly but their English is quite poor. My boyfriend got sick and we got hotel transport from the hospital in the middle of the night, I am very grateful for that.

I would definitely stay again. Just please, get a better chef in your restaurant.

Massage is good but expensive as for Chiang Mai and in winter it can be cold as the rooms are not heated.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are very nice. If you are with the family you can get two rooms with connecting doors
