Before i write this review, let me just say that this is the first poor review i have ever written, and throughout greece my group of friends and i experienced wonderful hospitality.
Upon arrival, we were no greeted in any manner whatsoever, instead the manager said straight away (without even bothering to welcome us) that we must keep quiet at nights and if we didnt, he pointed in the direction of the police station to suggest what the consequences might be. I think that if he had been nice to us from the beginning, then there would have been no bad blood, but this act of extreme rudeness set the tone and from then on it was more rudeness from there. When i asked at the bar for a cheese toastie, and then asked what the cost of that might be, he blew up at me and condescended me for asking what the price was. Other stories of terrible treatmet that our group were subjected to included them getting annoyed when one of my friends asked for a glass, and when we informed them that we wanted to leave early, they proceeded to critizise us for the amount of emails we had sent regarding organising our booking a couple of months earlier. They even had the audicity to print out these emails to show us this. In the past ive sent 20 emails back and forth between myself and hotels and never had any issues, so for these rude managers to ridicule us for sending many emails prior to our booking highlights the extent of their lowliness. In short, this hotel is nice, yes. But the couple running it are the rudest, most base people ive ever come across in my life. It would be a crime against humanity, against basic morality to stay at their place. They bring shame upon the hospitality industry.

Ridiculous!!

I would like to specify that this is the first time ever that I have felt the urge to answer a review.

First of all, regarding the organisation of the booking, our intentions were never those to 'criticise' but simply to point out how, after various months of continuos emails, where they changed the number of guests, hesitated in giving us the details of a credit card and avoided the payment of a deposit during high season, we still provided their rooms.

Secondly, upon arrival, the group was larger than expected, and the 'group leader' with whom I had been exchanging emails for the past six months, was not even present.
Moreover, they insisted to have breakfast included in their stay, but once here, decided to cancel it in order to save money. They would spend the day in the bar area consuming their own food and beverages, brought from outside and had the audicity to ask us for cutlery, bowls and glasses.

In conclusion, they decided to cheack out earlier, and informed us last minute. Refusing to pay the whole stay, we reminded them that the hotel cancellation policy provides a 100% penalty and we only gave them a 50% penalty.

They have been the rudest, most disrispectful and most confused guests we have ever had staying with us and the real crime is that such individuals have the possibilty to travel the world.

We stayed for a week just at peak season was starting to kick off. The best location, central to everything and close to the village. Our room had the most amazing view! The owners were great, really helpful, friendly and Sylvia told us the best places to eat out and gave helpful hints around the island. The hotel transfers from the port made life easy. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the pool is one of the best on the islands. Our friends would come to our hotel just to drink beers in the hammocks and swim in the pool. We are definitely coming back and would highly recommend Hotel Mediterraneo as the perfect place to stay

Room Tip: room 10 has the best view or the island and good air con as well as a clothes line.

Such a brilliant experience here. Couldn't recommend it any higher. The hotel itself was mind blowing, perfect. The owners friendliness and helpfulness make the whole experience. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!

We stayed here in the early part of the busy season and had a very nice stay. The accommodations are quite good for the star rating.

The rooms are clean and adequate. We had air conditioning which worked well but no Internet in the room.

The bar area is very inviting especially with Sal behind the bar and his dog out front.

Perhaps the best part is the location. The hotel is walking distance to the city center and many of the bars. The bus stop is directly out front.

Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic stay in this hotel, very friendly owner, nice pool, close to very good restaurants. We had a perfect view from our own little balcony over the city. We were in the low season, which was perfect for us. No big crowds of party people, but a very quiet and beautifull island, with a relaxed atmosphere.

We visited Ios in the tail end of the season and were lucky enough to have this lovely little hotel virtually to ourselves. The Hotel is all you could want or need for your stay in Ios. It is completely central in the middle of Chora Town meaning you are stones throw from all the bars and resturanut pepper potted around the wonderfulyl pituresque lanes of the Chora. It also has the added bonus of being next to the bus stop, which has a regular service down to the islands main beach, Mylopotus.

The Rooms themselves are quintessentially Greek in their design, they are basic but spotlessly clean and a more than resonable size. From a basic inspection it looked like every room has a balcony over looking the pool with the backdrop of the beutiful village in view.

The pool itself is an excellent size for a hotel with only 16 (ish) rooms and has ample amounts of good quality sunbeds. The pool bar is another feature the hotel benefits from. This is resonably priced and open all day. The owner Sal also is a dab hand at Cocktails.

The rate for the room came with a continental breakfast, which was good value in the context of the extremely reasonable price we were paying for our stay.

Overall a brilliant hotel in a great location on a wonderful island. We will hopefully be back soon, if for nothing else to see the Owner, Sal's beautiful pet labrador, Nana who was without doubt our favourite holiday friend we met on our entire trip.

Tip - Rather than walk up the 'tourist trail' to see the sunset go to the church on top of the hill behind the hotel and see the stunning sunset over three aspects, the island of neighbouring Sikinos to the south, the port directly in front and to the west the village. You will probably get this peaceful spot all to yourselves as well.

This hotel has the best location in Ios but is not noisey at all. It is across the road from the main village and we never used any form of transport. There is a supermaket next door too. Had breakfast in the hotel nearly every morning and it was beautiful. Rooms are quite basic but clean enough.
