This was a last minute decision for me I tagged along with a friend and her son she found this hotel online and it was perfect! I called them beforehand to see if they had a room and they were so warm on the telephone. This is a family run business and the location is perfect. My room was lovely beautiful view to the port, clean, air conditioning, shower and balcony. We were picked up from the port at no cost by Evagelos. On arrival we met his lovely wife Antonia and their son Panos, now this guy is a legend!!! He made my stay so enjoyable.

Ios is an island where a lot of young people visit, so I liked staying a few minutes out of the main town as it gets quite noisy at night. The fantastic thing about this hotel is that the bus stop is right outside the door and buses run every 15 minutes. You can walk to the port and you can walk to the main town. I bused it to the main town as it is about 15 minutes, and taxi gets you home late at night for next to nothing which is fantastic.

Now Panos is a computer genius. There is wifi everywhere around the hotel, I had it in my room, on my balcony, by the pool, while having breakfast which was totally awesome as I had to also work so it made it all that more enjoyable as I could work anywhere around the hotel.

My travel adaptor stopped working and was nearly in tears thinking how I was going to charge my phone and laptop until I could buy another one as there was no way the main town has any computer or electrical stores. I went to reception to ask if anybody had an iphone charger and Panos - the legend - actually had a whole box of adaptors!!! He gave me a new adaptor which I still have so problem solved! He also printed off my ticket and took me out to a lovely restaurant called Unique overlooking the town on top of the mountain with spectacular views and fantastic food.

Speaking of food if you want traditional Greek food in the main town go to The Nest Taverna, it's a family run business with home cooked Greek meals. We ate there when we could, great value for money and delicious. Try to avoid going to any coffee shops or restaurants run by young kids as the service is terrible. They are too hung over to serve you!

I went to a beach about an hour away which was nice, but preferred the beach at the port which was quite close as it was quiet with not many young people as they flock to the main beach which is about five minutes by bus.

Breakfast was very basic, but you don't need much to get full. I tried the little toasts they had and now I'm addicted and buy them from the supermarket as they are quite filling, with cheese and ham. There's also fruit and cereal, but no eggs or bacon or a selection of cereal if you prefer a certain brand. I was happy with what I had for breakfast with coffee.

The pool area is fantastic, huge pool with a bar and food so you can hang there all day and not leave as you get everything there.

I would love to come back just to visit the family and area again, it is a very young island with lots of teenagers and kids up until their late 20's, but they don't arrive into the main town to party until late by then I had my meal and was back in the hotel calling it a night.

I loved this place as I mentioned before as it had a glorious view, wonderful hosts, and it was accessible to lots of things quite easily. The last thing I wanted was to wait in the hot sun for a bus, I waited in the shade of the hotel until the bus arrived at their doorstep.

I met some Aussie guys at the hotel as well and hooked up with them in Santorini and we hung together for a few days. There's a good vibe at that hotel even the tourists are friendly!

You won't be disappointed and give Panos a huge hug from Betty for me! :) xxxx

Room Tip: Ask for a view to the port

This hotel is so close to perfect that I am going to hit the negatives first and get them done with, before I start raving about how good it is. Our room was a tadge tight with a third bed squeezed in and in a perfect world the bathroom could have been a little roomier. The shower cubicle in particular was a bit small. There, that's it. The rest was perfect.
The hotel is spread out over a number of different blocks on several levels, with delightful little arches and stairways that, during our visit in May, were festooned with blossom. It is incredibly well kept and attractively designed, most rooms have terrific views.
The rooms DO vary, so if you are not happy with the one you get, ask to see another - our friends had a much bigger/better bathroom than us and more cupboard space, - but hey, who cared?? We sure didn't. Ours was immaculate, comfortable, had a lovely balcony looking out over the harbour,, fridge, safe - all we needed. Plus clean towels EVERY DAY!!! Free Wi-Fi for those that need it.
The pool is fantastic, big, delightfully deep, clean, with amazing views over the bay. The pool area is tasteful and attractive, plenty of sunbeds with sun or shade as you choose.
We were there late May early June and both the island and hotel were fairly quiet, we often had the pool entirely to ourselves and there was no noise or disturbance at all at night. I'm not sure how much that would change if the place were packed.
Location was just fine for us, it is a 5 minute amble to the nearest beach and the bars/restaurants at the pretty little port. Or a bus stops RIGHT outside the hotel to take you the town or the main beach at Milopotas.
What made HOMERS INN perfect, rather than just great ,was the warm welcome from the lovely owners. Nothing was too much trouble. I have never stayed at any hotel anywhere in the world with nicer, better service or a more 'can-do' attitude. GOLD STAR.
Breakfast was simple but delicious, the setting is idyllic and I WISH I were back there.
Finally, a word of warning. HOMERS is fantastic but it is a Greek Island hotel, it's charm is its simplicity. For people wanting hi-tech, resort style luxury, hot and cold running entertainment, UK standard plumbing and widescreen TV, look elsewhere.
To got to HOMERS INN and not love it would just be too sad.

Room Tip: Some rooms have private balconies which is nice...

This was our second year on Ios staying at Homers Inn, The family run hotel couldn't have been more attentative to our needs and more if we had asked. Our young adult children 20, 18 & 15 said it was best holiday ever. They had a room in a separate block to us, so we both had privacy. Its such an easy place to go any where with bus stop out side hotel. Best pool on the island and snack bar, reccommend it to all ages particularly families with teenagers. We will definetely return.

Just back from a week in Ios. Stayed at Homer's Inn. Views from the room were stunning. Could see right over to the port area with amazing sunsets. Room itself was fine. Air con was included in the price (which is unusual for Greece) as was the safe. Staff very friendly and met us at the boat and took us to our hotel. Pool bar is lovely and quiet - great place to chill out/swim/enjoy the views or try out the food....great snacks at pool bar! Room kept clean as the maid tidied up every day. Didn't get up early enough to try the breakfast, but the breakfast area is beautiful and looks over towards Ios port.
It's only a 5 min walk to the port with some lovely restaurants and 10-15mins from the village and all it's nightlife.

The hotel is in a great location, the staff are very friendly, they have great advise about many restaurants. The pool bar is brilliant for lunch during the day if you're chilling by the pool! The night life is only a 15 minute walk up the hill, their are many great restaurants in the port and in the town. Their are a few beaches, one is a 5-7 minute walk, the other is a 15 minute bus journey.
It is perfect if you want to relax away from the busy town, but you also want to be close enough to go to the town for the night. Definitely advisable to people going on a party holiday!
