Doume is one of the two large restaurants on the church square in the centre of old Calvi. So its busy and vibrant – positive characteristics when other restaurants are somewhat dead as on the evening we ate here.
Because of its scale and prominence one might expect that it would be standard fare and average value. However, the fixed-price menu provides very good quality, value and portion sizes are generous. I have a good appetite and was struggling. The vin en pichet is good quality and service is pleasant and efficient. So whilst you may mostly select more intimate restaurants in keeping with Calvi's atmosphere during your stay, don't dismiss Doume as a likely tourist trap. It's a lot better than that.
