“Best evening meal so far.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 September 2013

Don't let the outside appearance of this restaurant put you off. With no outside seating and no fancy illuminations, let the food do the talking. Every dish we ordered could not be faulted. Octopus salad starter, lamb main and duck main courses (both served on sizzling platters) and desserts of ice cream with hot chocolate sauce and a local cheese selection. If you want bright lights and flashy decor, go to a restaurant on the marina. If you're not worried by the furniture and decor, but want great food. This is the place to eat.

“A Terrible Let Down”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

It was a disappointment, sadly.
We picked it carefully, after reading a good few reviews of restaurants in Calvi. This was our only chance to eat out and we really wanted it to be special.
Looking at the sparse menu, we said "YAY!" Everything looked wonderful and the small room ambience was perfect.
We ordered (3 of us) sardines, anchovies & roasted vegetables. We also gambled on an organic red wine. The wine was quite bland but we thought the food would sit well with it.
Both the sardines and re anchovies turned out to be TINNED!!!! The anchovies were spread out with a few black olives and thinly sliced celery (mine). The sardines were still in the shape of the tin!!
The veggy starter was fine, but uninspired.
Waiting in hope for the main course to save the day was in vain. This review is getting too long and I've finished doing what I had to do (suffice it to say that 10mins ago I got the most horrendous cramps, had to drop everything but the iPhone and run!)
Octopus was lovely and tender
Duck was (never thought this was possible) sanglante but dry!
My fish couscous – the pieces of cod were cooked perfectly but the sauce seems to have been made from a bottle of fish sauce and prawn paste – foul...!!!
I often think that to run a restaurant would kill me and I imagine in horror that I could never keep up my enthusiasm but this place seems to be doing just as it intends; the problem is the terribly low level of that initial
intention!!!

“a must in Calvi, a family runned restaurant, among many traps for tourist”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2013

A lovely lady , who is also a painter, is the only person who serve in the restaurant with only 24 seats. It will be difficult to jump in , so reserve before. Try vegetables beignet ( fried with a pastry) hot and really delicious. Continue with fish with caramelized sauce and finish with melon , honey and mint. It seems to be in a house not in a restaurant. Price are very affordable: 30 Euro per person with a very good red wine.

“Outstanding local Corsican-style cooking.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2013

Just the best! This tiny place is totally unassuming and is run by a Corsican lady almost as though you were entering her own home. Everything is freshly cooked and dishes are quire simple but truly delicious. The menu is not particularly extensive but there is enough variety to suit most tastes. The sardines and the duck are particularly good and arrive at your table sizzling on iron and wood platters. The Corsican cake dessert with eau de vie is outstanding. Thoroughly recommended. (It is fairly essential to book as there are very few tables here).

“Quirky place - fab food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2012

Small but cosy restaurant, one lady doing all the serving - limited menu but all good options. All freshly sourced Corsican produce and cooked to order. Really generous portions. Would highly recommend the grilled sardines. Great value too - and something a bit different to the restaurants on the quay.
