My fiancé and I just came back from Calvi, and I truly believe if it was not a surprise birthday present it would be more on the poor side of a review. The thing is that this hotel has so much potential to be better.

Pro:
Spacious room and closet. The hotel has a good view... and our room overlooked the pool which was nice. There is also a big enough balcony to enjoy a snack. Friendly receptionists.

Con:
No bartender. I am not sure if it was because it is not officially the summer season.. but if they have a bar there should be a bartender. Luckily the receptionists were nice enough to be willing to follow my fiancé's instructions on how to pour a well drink. The bar also says it closes at 24h.. but by 22h we had to take drinks out of the mini fridge
The room says AC... but the room never really got cold. With the sunburns that we had.. we were in dying need of a cold room.
There were many pigeons going into the pool leaving behind too much bird poo to even try out the water.
Breakfast was 12e which is way too much for croissants that were not fresh, stale cereal and powdered juice

Pros:
terrace with view over the pool and the citadel
huge bathtub
large double bed
spacious room
free parking

Cons:
unmovable nightstand that was blocking access to the electrical outlets behind it;
when we first mentioned about our wifi issues in the room, we were led to understand that it's normal that the signal comes and goes, upon insisting on the matter the receptionist figured out that there was an unsolved problem

We spent two nights here.. The room itself was great, if you could find it. The lighting in the halls leading to the room were so dim, that I I should have brought a flashlight. Once you're in the room,it's quite nice and a lovely view of the harbor area, from the balcony patio. The other problem I had, was that the A/C was not working at all. I'm paying for an air conditioned room? I made a complaint about it at the front desk twice, after each night. We got the runaround , and they said they would take care of it.. One of the desk personell admitted that they shut the A/C down for the entire building. It was quite uncomfortable without A/C. for two nights. We had to have the balcony window open , but it was not by choice, and having to be awaken by the early morning traffic noise was NOT ACCEPTABLE! They offered me a free bottled water from the mini-bar for the inconvenience? Are you kidding? The bottom line is: the hotel is quite nice, the front desk service lacks what would be required of ANY three or four star rated hotel.

Room Tip: The halls have very dim light. The staff is not very accomodating , especially if you're an &q...

We stayed at Hotel Regina for two nights upon our arrival in Calvi, our first two nights in Corsica on our honeymoon. The best things it has going for it are the views of the harbor and the pool. Since it is a 10 minute walk away from the waterfront, the area was quiet without much disturbances. We had one of the mid-priced rooms (not the highest, not the lowest price) and had a small balcony with table and chairs which was nice to sit out and look at the harbor. There is a small refrigerator in the room, also.
However, as many other reviewers remarked, we were quite surprised at the carpet stains and the disrepair of the carpet. We also used the air conditioning for much of the night which is located in the ceiling in the hallway between the bedroom area and the bathroom and it leaked significantly to the extent that the carpet was thoroughly wet by morning.
Overall, the hotel is "nice" but for the price we paid (about $160 USD/night) I would have expected more. We stayed at another hotel in Corte which was much nicer and included breakfast for $150 USD/night.
We had problems using the safe, but it might have been due to user-error, I'm not sure.
The windows on the road-side of the hotel are in great need of a washing. The wind-blown rain has made a lot of spots on the windows to the point they are very cloudy to look out of them, which is very noticeable as you walk the hallway from the elevator to your room.

If your travel plans take you to Calvi, and you simply need a place to stay for one night, Hotel Regina may be an option. However, it feels more like a hotel catering to business travelers than tourists. We were traveling with a group and universally everyone thought the cleanliness of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Our particular experience with the front desk staff is they were at best indifferent to their guests, and outright non-cooperative to some of us. If traveling to Calvi again, I would look into other options.

We stayed in this hotel for one week and found it to be very good, modern, smart, central, comfortable and peaceful. The standard room had air con, tv, great bathroom, comfortable bed, balcony with table and chairs and lounger. The room was cleaned, towels changed and restocked every day at some point when we were out. I've read other reviews remarking on the stained carpets and this is true, light blue is probably not the best colour for hotel carpets. The continental breakfast was an extensive choice of pastries, fruit, cereals, yogurts, juices, tea, coffee all self service or could be ordered to your room and all top quality. There is a beautiful small, deep, swimming pool which was great for a cooling dip and a drink from the bar. The hotel always seemed very quiet with not a great deal of atmosphere though all the staff were always friendly and efficient and helpful, don't expect them to fuss over you, its not how Corsicans are. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to the town centre, port or the fantastic, long, beach but it is a steep uphill walk on the way back .

Room Tip: Choose and pay for a higher room for a view but all rooms are away from the road.

We stayed 3 nights upon arriving in Corsica. We had an incredible view of the port and the lovely swimming pool at the hotel. The lobby and restaurant/bar area were very modern looking. Our room had very nice furniture and a comfortable bed but the carpet just made you want to say 'yuck'. It was a pale color so the stains were everywhere and very noticeable. For our last night it was necessary to move us to a different room and unfortunately this room had stained carpet And the walls were noticeably in need of updating. Everything seemed to be clean but I would have rated this hotel much higher had they ripped out the carpet and had tile floors!
