“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2012

We've stayed 4 nights with our kids (ages 3 and 5). The rooms were spacious and with a very nice view of the sea and the marina right in front. It's very close from restaurants, markets and even from the old town (for us it was more difficult to get there as we had to use a stroller).
Staying in Porto Vecchio proved to be a good choice as we could reach very nice beaches going north (Favona) or south (Pallombaggia, Santa Giulia, Rondinara), and even Bonifacio (30 minutes drive). The parking lot has plenty space for all the cars.
We didn't have much time to use the swiming pool, which was quite big (the water a bit cold for Brazilian standards...).
The staff was really friendly, everyone spoke English and there was even a girl at the reception desk that spoke Portuguese (she lived in Minas Gerais).
And as an unexpected surprise we had from our balcony a very nice view of the fires during the celebration of the July 14 holiday!

This clean modern hotel occupies an excellent location by the harbour at Porto Vecchio. We had a large bright bedroom and bathroom, with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and salt flats. We couldn't get a room facing the sea, as the best rooms seem to be reserved for direct bookings (we used an agent), but maybe this was to the good as the front sea-view rooms were facing the road. The bathroom was good, and separate from the lavatory.

By Corsican standards, breakfast (14 euros extra) was superb with a range of cereals, breads, fruit, cheese, meat, etc., but, as very common in hotels on the island, coffee was from a machine, and quite poor (especially in comparison with what is available in nearby cafes.)

The position was excellent, being a few minutes' walk to the harbour area. But if you want to see the old city, then you face a bit of a slog up the hill - unless you are lucky enough to find a car park space at the top. The old city is interesting, but probably not worth more than half a day's sightseeing. There are any number of restaurants, but all seem to offer similar menus and all are expensive.

Porto Vecchio is half an hour's drive from Bonifaccio, a beautiful old city also offering an amazing walk along the adjacent cliffs with views of Sardinia. It is also very handy for touring the local coastal and mountain areas, and for visiting villages such as Zonza.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front face the sea, but overlook the main road and only have sun early morning. Th...

The location is excellent and overlooks the marina. the road outside the hotel is very quiet and there is plenty of room in the car park.
The hotel is one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in, it was spotless.
The pool area was private and the pool was excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive and spoke excellent English.
The hotel is not cheap, but as everyone knows, quality costs.
The hotel also has free a wi fi connection
The only negative point we can make is the lack of tea / coffee making facilities in the room.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

From outside quite a new building (surprisingly the 3 lights of the 3 stars were removed - I asked myself, whether it means a downgrade :) ) with parking space and quite a big pool with a nice terrace inside.
On one side you have the sea/port view - it is very beautiful and don't have any fears, that it could be loud, because of the street in front of the hotel - it doesn't disturb at all.
On the other side you have a view on the sole area, pool and a bit of the city.

The hotel is situated very well and is easy to find, it is not far away from the port, where are several bars, restaurants, cafes and a promenade.

To the city of Porto Vecchio it is a nice walk (up - after the big parking take the right, it is much less slope) of max 15 min.

The room was quite big and new. The climate control worked well. The Lan-internet didn't work well at all.

For the price of 180 EUR in the lower season the breakfast was not included (it would be 14 EUR p. p. on top).
You can have a nice french breakfast at the port though (e.g. glacier du port - 9 eur incl fresh juice, baguette, pain au chocolat etc)
It is very nice to start the day like that.,
As we arrived (quite early), we've been told, that there is no possibility to get into the room before 3pm. I would expect, that maybe one would give priority to the room, if guests come early, but on the other hand the hotel is quite big, so it might be difficult to manage it in this way.

The staff is partially nice. The first day we had a non-smiling receptionist. The next 2 days very nice guys. One lady was for me not really service-oriented and also not very nice as she offered to one older couple, who was a bit worried about the street in front of the hotel, to leave the hotel instead of trying to explain and calm them down and find a solution. The older lady was crying after that.

I wouldnt recommend this hotel for vacation/beach holiday to my friends because of high price, but if you have/want to stay at porto vecchio/port it is a decent, clean hotel with quite big rooms, just quite expensive.
