The hotel is quite far from Porto Vecchio. I strongly advise you to call the hotel in advance to ask for directions.

By the time I got there i just wanted to leave as the access is difficult and the journey was long. Booked 2 nights and wanted to cancel the 2nd one to move closer to porto Vecchio. Really surprised when the manager said she'd be able to cancel it free of charge. She managed to turned the situation round and to calm me down. She kindly explained a couple of nice places to go and by the end of the conversation didn't want to cancel the booking any longer.

It is true that the place is very nice just too far if you are only there for a few days and wanna visit Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio.

The manager is very kind and has amazing people skills. The new receptionist (a gentleman from Paris) is very nice too.

The only reason why i marked the hotel down is due to the distance and it's access and because the room was basic. When we got there there was a really loud noise coming from the room next door. I think the pipes need reviewing in the room we had.

The breakfast was basic, the same as many hotels in the island however it was served by a lovely lady. The guy who works nights was nice too.

We were in trepidation of mind because of varying previous reviews - but everything was fine. I deal with points previously made.
We stayed two nights in late Sept 2012. Porto Vecchio is a ghastly location (both costly 'poser' water front and horrid gummed-up bypasses with shopping malls; not the old town, which we did not have time to visit). So the 'Bungalows' location is away from all that in the hills. As you go up the road, you have to say to yourself 'it can be done'! I suffer from severe vertigo and if I can do it, anyone can. It was not at all that bad actually (no sheer drops for instance). The next point is the air conditioning complaints. Ours did not switch on either, but as evenings were cool (as it happened) we didn't need it. On the morning we left, I mentioned this and the lady came with me, only to discover a master switch in the power panel in the corner of the room that we had thought we should not touch. It worked perfectly So make sure the person who takes you to your room (actually a chalet) demonstrates what to do. These things are so easily misunderstood are they not?

The food was fine and *not* overpriced, as opined in an earlier review. The breakfast was fine and the very friendly staff acceded to our requests to have extra fresh rolls (for example) instead of proprietary products, with great pleasure. Despite the rather remote location the products were always fresh that morning. You have to remember that if guests eat unhealthily, then small hotels will provide as standard accordingly, which is perhaps why buffets are better. The staff are 'laid back' so do not interpret that as 'unhelpful'. You are there to relax along with them. The very clean pool was most welcomed by my water baby wife.

The views are magnificent and after the first trip up and down, the road seems half the length that it seemed the first time (it's actually only a couple of kms off the main road and is tarmaced all the way) We stopped on the level stretch at the base of the hill to admire the herd of goats and their accompanying shepherd and dog, who was so friendly, he wanted to come with us.

Wifi was only available on the terrace and restaurant area..

Would we return? Certainly, very good value and good to get away from the ghastly main road (RN 198). Lots of lovely little country lanes to explore in the area.

Room Tip: Perhaps specify not next to the car park (although good views from those).

This is the ideal place where to stay if you search a nice and right priced place! Even if the place is not on the seaside, the most famous beaches could be reached in max 30 minutes. Also the restaurant is good and local tipical dishes could be easily tasted. It should be taken into account the chance to have a nice bath in the swimming pool, opened until 11 PM. Please do not forget to search coordinates into google, in order to put them in your gps system. The place is not on the main road. In any case...in my case, a very good choice!

If you are looking for a quiet retreat in the hills but still within striking distance of great beaches, this could be the place. At these cheap prices, you shouldn't expect too much though.

My room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The aircon and TV were a bit difficult to get to work.

The main problem was the terrible shower. First of all, it lacked pressure. The head also seemed calcified because water was only coming out of a few of the holes. Finally and worst, the head did not even fit in the bracket in which the head is supposed to sit. It kept falling out and hitting me on the head. Not very relaxing. But this is actually quite typical in French homes and hotels.

The breakfast was continental (ie sweet and unbalanced) but the staff were happy to provide me eggs when requested the night before.

The staff overall were quite friendly.

The place it's very nice but unfortunately the owners are not very friendly with the guests.
If you ask them something they do nothing to accommodate you.it's seams that they don't like their job very much.
There is a pool but they forgot to write on the hotel information that the pool it's only for the children who use it like they are in a water park.So you can not swim and a least you even can not rest cause they are screaming all day long.and obviously the owners do nothing about this and they tell you that it's your problem because it's a family place.Ok but if it so, please write it on the info so I can choose to go in somewhere else place.it's really an uncomfortable place, you pay 120 euro per night to be in a water park with a nasty room. Also the rooms are disgusting.my advice is go to the next hotel which is very near and it's call Le Jiardin de mathieu.

We stayed at Les Bungalows du Maquis at the start and at the end of our trip, and we loved the place!

It is about a 20-minute drive from Porto-Vecchio, near the village of Muratello.

The hotel is way, way up a hill - once you get through the many switchbacks to get to the place, you'll be rewarded with a great view, and a hotel that, while not luxurious, has plenty of charm.

Helpful personel, very good restaurant, we'd go back again.
