We stayed in Eguisheim as our base for a two week Alsace vacation. It was delightful. The village is large enough to explore, with little explanations of the village history throughout and easy walks through vineyards around. The exposed-timber buildings are ancient and beautiful. The restaurants and shops have maintained the old-style charm, too. Even though we were late-season travelers, it didn't feel as if the village residents were tired of tourists. Eguisheim is also close to many other villages and freeways, so it was a great center-point for our excursions.

The fourth villages we have visited in one day in the Alsace started in the morning till in the afternoon. Eguisheim is one of the superb places I've seen that day. If you plan of visiting the Alsace, I recommend highlighting Eguisheim on your list.

This was our favourite village in the Alsace region. It is absolutely beautiful and is a must see if in the area. There is a circular self guided walking route around the village and is very easy for all abilities. Look out the stork nests on the roof tops.

One of the nicer Alsace villages. More than just a High Street. Like everywhere, better first thing before it gets busy, or in the evening.
