“Nice business hotel in remarkable building.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2013

I've stayed in du Parc many times. It is a nice hotel with an excellent bar and nice breakfast. Some of the rooms are a bit worn and need and upgrade. Some of the rooms are also quite small. But overall I always choose to stay at du Parc when I'm in Mulhouse. It is perfectly located, close to the main square by the church and the different restaurants.

This hotel has a very good location in Mulhouse, but it has seen better days Long ago.
Carpets and bathrooms need an urgent renovation.
It seems that no investment has been done in some decades.
Also the breakfast cost of 19,5€ is quite high, and the parking has the same inflares price.

We stayed in this hotel 2 nights and enjoyed it very much. Very warm welcome, a cosy bar with a most nice barman, the place is clean, calm, the breakfast 10/10. The location is also perfect, at 5 minutes walk from the city center which is a wonderful pedestrian shopping area. We'll go back any time with real pleasure.

Très bel hôtel, propre, avec un personnel très sympathique, surtout le barman qui rend le bar un endroit de rêve pour prendre un verre ou le repas du soir. Nous gardons un excellent souvenir et y retournerons avec grand plaisir.

We stayed for one night at the Hôtel du Parc this July. It seems like the hotel and the lounge certainly capitalize on the history and charm of the building. Without a doubt, it is a remarkable building; unfortunately, our particular room really did not match the grandeur, and certainly did not deserve its price tag.

We watched room prices fluctuate for several days before we booked. At one point, we saw our room price skyrocket by almost four times its original listing. At the front desk, there is a board which clearly shows the base room rates without an increase. It begs the question: how can the online prices become so inflated? Our receptionist told us there was a convention in town. We assume this had been the reason for the supply-and-demand price hike. Before we booked, we were luckily able to negotiate a better rate for what they call the 'superior standard room'.

Our room was really showing its age. The carpet was embarrassingly stained. The air conditioning system clearly cannot cope during the summer. After hefty room rates, there are still added surcharges, such as a 3€/day wi-fi fee after your miserly 30 minutes of complimentary time is used up. Don't even think about water from the mini bar.

The location is excellent, just steps from the old town. You can park on the street overnight for free and pre-pay the meter for the following morning. This will save you the fee to park in the hotel lot.

Somewhere between very good to excellent, this was my 6th visit to this hotel. The reason I cannot say 'completely' excellent is because in the years I have stayed there, I noticed this trip that things are beginning to slip a little in terms of amenities and breakfast service.

The most important thing that I noticed was the change in quality of the breakfast, in the food availble and the staff. First, the staff was very curt and 'bossy' and did not encourange anyone to simply help them self from the buffet. They were actually unfriendly and rather than sit and have a relaxing breakfast, they made onne want to hurry to get outta there, no second helpings! The only hot food, on the "full buffet" was a hard boiled or soft boiled egg that one had to boil themself.

The selection of food was adequate and filling, but it is not what this hotel has had in past visits, and seemed to be on the budget side of offerings.

Outside of this, the hotel is excellently located, clean and has nice sized rooms. The front desk staff is very freindly and hospitable.

I would not stay anwywhere else in Mulhouse, but, do wish the breakfasts were up to their past standards.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner location.

We had a nice and quiet room. The location was good, close to the train station and walking distance to restaurants. Hotel deco was interesting and staff very good. The bar/lounge and restaurant area was quite small and looked uncomfortable for dinner but fine for drinks.

Lovely small jazz band in the evening but I would avoid getting a room over or near this area as potential for having a noisy room and there is a variety of live entertain each night until very late.

Also interesting, you must leave your room key with the front desk each time you depart. Wifi in the room is an extra charge, not much, but feel this should be included like most hotels. Upon check out, review your bill as there were parking and room charges on our bill that did not belong so we had them removed upon check out.

Room Tip: Avoid locations around the lobby/bar/restaurant area.

Staying in Basel (or anywhere in Switzerland) usually requires a second mortgage. So many savvy folk who wish to visit Basel and worship at the Temples of the Pharmaceutical Industry learn to stay in Mulhouse which is immediately adjacent to Basel but in France. However Mulhouse lacks really nice hotels. Some good chains but not that special something that one likes from time to time.

We have stayed on three occasions at this hotel which is in the centre of Mulhouse. As others have said, it is oldish, though recently renovated, and is a very Art-deco place. The rooms are more consistent with the old hotel style; smallish and a bit put-together, but that is the style and it is to be enjoyed. The lift is tiny.

if you stay there then enjoy the food of the region and I would point the gastronomic tripadvisor at the Fois Gras served at request with some old Gewurtztraminer from a local grower. You need old - and it is usually called 'tardive'. The rest of the menu is good and you can sit and eat in the piano bar which is quite nice. Prices reasonable and there is a garage to park your car.
