“Comfortable hotel, great service.”
Reviewed 5 June 2011

This hotel has a vey nice setting in the centre of Obernai which is a good base for touring Alsace. It has many buildings compactly arranged around a central courtyard. The complex is surrounded by gardens enclosed by a perimeter wall that is part of the original city walls. The hotel has a great pool/spa area with coed sauna and steam rooms. It even has endless pool for doing laps.

My room was comfortable and clean, no complaints.
I was attending a conference here and the facilities were excellent. Our daily breakfast was delicious and the choices vast.

The staff were excellent throughout our stay. We had a large group and they were helpful and cheerful in both English and French.

My only problem was with the internet. For the first half of our stay it was very difficult to connect to the wifi and when you did you had to write your email quickly before you lost connection. By midweek however, this was corrected.

Very well situated in the beautiful town of Obernai, and within a walking distance of every thing. We found the staff charming (and very helpful with parking the car). The room , overlooking the gardens was big, very quiet and light. Breakfast the next day slightly disorganised (Easter weekend and everybody arriving at the same time) but the staff was working very hard to keep us all happy and the food was plentiful and v. good. Smallish but very nice swimming pool.

My wife stayed at this hotel for two nights on a road trip in Alsace.
The Hotel staff was more than accomadating and pleasant,
The room were top notch. great linens and bed..
Breakfast is not included and can be a little pricey by North American
standards.

A well run lovely hotel deserving of its 4 stars. However, we had the displeasure of spending 275 Euros for the worst meal we have ever had in France. Simply put, the chef has no idea how to cook. We should have walked when we received the complementary entree. It was a lukewarm vegetable soup with no flavor. Foie gras was served with a toasted marshmallow (no kidding, at least the liver was good). Lamb was buried in puff pastry with bland reduction sauce, vegetables enclosed in a thick piece of pasta, a mystery why. Desserts were bad. A German run kitchen serving faut french food. Avoid and enjoy your stay.

We have booked a 4 nights charme package, @ 309 euro per night. Located just in the centre of very characteristic Obernai. A very clean swimming pool with lots of secrets. Wonderful dinner. De sommelier knew a lot and made good suggestions of wines. Unfortunately only for one night....

Because, just on the first night, we had a phone call from Holland that the mother of my travel compagnon was dying. Too bad that we have to cancel the other 3 nights that we had been looking forward to.

The reception, after hearing the reason of the cancellation, expressed her condolences, but still charged us (after consulting with her boss) 1 night + 1 night extra (including the dinner which we would not take). Her argument was that this will be reimboursed by the insurance. Which insurance, how did she know, and as if we would have enough time to handle with the insurance during the period of mourning? We did not have time to argue that time, paid and left. A bit more empathy and understanding would be more appropriate.

I've stayed in many Alsace hotels and this is by far the best. The rooms were large for the area, clean, and very comfortable. The site is wonderful with plenty of parking and walking distance to many restaurants and stores. The restaurant was great - I had several meals and all were fantastic especially the chacroute with fish, an unexpected combination. The only improvement as a business traveler could be better wi-fi coverage.

Obernai is the perfect place to stay in Alsace. It is a small, charming town. Although there are not a lot of "tourist" sites in Obernai, it is an easy drive to Strasbourg, Riquewihr, Ribeauville and Haut-Koenigsbourg.

In Obernai, La Cour d'Alsace is the perfect place to stay. It is set in a courtyard away from the main road in a quiet and pretty setting. The room was spacious and modern with large windows overlooking the garden. The demi-pension is a true bargain. Breakfasts are bountiful and dinner each night was delicious and professionally presented and served. The staff at La Cour d'Alsace is very helpful and unfailingly pleasant.
