My wife and I drove up to this beautiful convent. Both the drive to and the convent was well worth the drive. The setting of this convent is so beautiful and peaceful I did not want to leave. The museum and other points of interest was very good. I would like to return

Unless you are religious, the place is average both esthetic ally and historically. You may easily skip it,if your interests lie in nature, hiking an biking. Highly recommended for people who observe all the saints. All the facilities are functioning

Our friends took us there today. Cloudy day, but lots of people. The place inspires peace, it's so big that large numbers of people don't bother you. It's a catholic pilgrimage destination. Great buildings, great history, was visited by Pope Paul II in 1982. It has relics of the Saint Odile.
The atmosphere is peaceful, because you can see nature al around. Great trekking paths and 4 restaurants for all budgets.
One very very special thing: since 1931 Alsacian teams take turns in assuring a 24/24 7d/7 praying-activity in the main chapel. And they are serious about it.

Saint Odile is the patron Saint of the Alsace.

We went here for the beautiful views, but I was quite beguiled by the history of the place and the religious elements of the location.

There was something quite soothing about being there.
