I apologise for takig so long to post. about this hotel I have actually stayed here 6 times, and hope to do so again. It is a simple family hotel, It is unpretentious and friendly, I like it because of its location, in 10-15 minutes you can either be at the top of the crete (crest), or down in the wine villages. The prices are reasonable, with the rooms clean and colourful, thought not large. The food is well cooked, anays to be washed down by the local speciality- wine! You are next to the Tabac, the Petanque, and, most importantly in France, the Pharmacy. With a short walk you can be in the woods, climbing the Faude, The area has always been French speaking, and it doesn't have the over-touristy feel of the more typically Alsation villages of the Route des vVins - another reason to stay here: those villages are nice to visit, but Orbey feels more 'real'. Madame has a welcoming smile, and the family come and go around her! Further afield one can spend days in Colmar, Strasbourg, Mulhouse (for the car museum), or cross borders to Basle or Freiburg. If one is driving from Britain, whihc can be done in a dayI recommend stopping off in either Nancy or Metz as well. Alternatively, the TGV goes to Colmar, and the cheapest flights are to Bale/Mulhouse, as Strasbourg flights are very expensive.
