“Expensive but worth it”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

For a family room on our holiday, we averaged about 120Euros a night with breakfast. This hotel was 170 Euros, so quite a bit more. However, the family room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast was very good and the pool and fitness room were an added bonus so we were happy with our choice. The reception staff were friendly - although the cleaning staff made it clear that they were going to use the lift to take a trolley downstairs before I could use it to take bags upstairs!

The walk into town isn't very pleasant but you can go up into the vineyards opposite and down into town avoiding the roads - slightly longer but much nicer.

In the middle of our vacation sweep through southern Germany, we popped over to Riquewihr to stay once more time in this Alsatian jewel...and to eat Flammkuchen and drink Gewurztraminer! This hotel is in walking distance to the village...we did it twice, once in the afternoon (full of tourists)....the second time (a must) quite late in the evening (magical).
The hotel was fine, and Madame Sparr was more than a little helpful, as I had screwed up our booking, and she had to find something for me....she did!!!

Free parking on site. About a 5 minute walk to the walled town. Friendly helpful staff. Great view from room over the vineyards. Room was ok but a bit small, small flatscreen TV and uncomfortable bed. Showered only bathroom was fine. Indoor pool was small and had jacuzzi style jets. Gym was small but adequate. Good friendly bar. Did not have the breakfast which cost 11 Euro. Overall not not value and would go again.

A friendly welcome from the charming proprietress. Most other staff were surly. A small double bed in a clean room on the ground floor with a view onto a bush and no way of securing the window when open. A weak shower that soaked the entire bathroom floor. Wifi was a little slow. The pool was small and intensely chlorinated. Breakfast was OK. A five-minute walk from Riquewihr old town and quiet at night. No comment on value, as this was booked as part of a tour. Would I choose to stay here again? No. Would I hate to? No.

If the bed was less firm I'd rate this place a 5. I don't usually complain but for some reason I just had trouble getting really comfortable. The room is clean, overlooking the Dopff vineyard, quiet, has a great pool and exercise room in the "basement", full breakfast menu (buffet), kid friendly and a short walk to the main square. Cost is reasonable and I would (plan to) stay here on our next visit. (The sleep issue may have been due to my getting through a rehab program for my hip.) Stay here you'll appreciate all the comforts of a 5 star hotel without the pretentiousness.

We are a small family with two small children and where travelling with our mexican niece; so we where very happy to have a duplex with two separate rooms for the price of one ! For EUR 123 we enjoyed a 45 square meters suite split on two levels (see photographs). The hotel is located in the midst of wineyards (15 minutes from Colmar), in a very calm region. The staff is warm and friendly. There is also a small swimming pool which is ok for a 3*** hotel. The breakfast is included in the price and excellent: fresh and with a large choice. Unfortunately our little daughter broke a standing mirror in the room (IKEA style furniture but still a hundred euros worth). When I mentioned it at the moment of the payment, the member of the staff said with a smile that they would charge it at our next visit in Le Riquewihr. That gave us the confirmation that the hotel was family friendly and definitely a great hotel !

There is only one negative point that bothered us: the toilets in the room where more or less clean but had a quite unpleasant smell !

Room Tip: If you are more than two people, then you should choose the duplex suite.

We were booked into this hotel as part of our walk through the vines and forests of Alsace on a dinner, bed and breakfast,( half pension) basis.
The hotel is just outside the village walls of Riquewihr. Although our room had a view of the vineyards we were not impressed when told we would have to walk back to the village, in the rain, for dinner as the hotel has no restaurant. We were given a voucher for a the restaurant l'Ecurie which was very touristy but open on a Sunday night.
As the hotel door is locked at 10pm, we were given a code to enter if we returned later than 10pm but, as we'd walked all day, we were in before 10pm. Sometime during the night we heard someone trying to attract attention at the locked door!
The room was roomy and comfortable and we were able to dry our wet walking boots.
Our real surprise was breakfast! We stayed at 15 different hotels/B&Bs in France and this hotel had the best breakfast with the variety and quality of food on offer.
We don't know what the daily rate is as the hotel was included in our walk costs.
The staff were helpful and spoke enough English for us to manage.
I would recommend the hotel but not the half pension.
