This was the second time I stayed at Residence Astoria for 1 night on a business trip and of course since I returned it means that I had a good experience the 1st time round. My second time there was just as I remember the hotel: clean, spacious 1 bedroom apartment, helpful staff.
As I travel from 1 hotel to the other only staying 1 night in each place, it is very important to feel cosy in the evening and this hotel really allow you to do so. A nice lounge with kitchenette (everything you need there: dish, plates, cutlery, pots and pans, glasses, hot plates, microwave and fridge….), separate bedroom and a very spacious and modern shower.
Easy to find and on the outskirt of Agen (really appreciated when you have already driven hours during the day, you don’t want to have to navigate the towncentre), very large supermarket close by.
The only issue I can see (not a problem for me in this season) is that if you wish to stay during the summer and open the windows, you might get quite a bit of road noise; of course you could always use the air-conditioning.

This is a great, fairly new, place to stay if touring France as we are. The beds were very comfortable and the room (suite) was spacious. Having experienced the IBIS Budget hotel in Bayonne the night previously, this hotel was like the Ritz!
Check in was a breeze and the receptionist spoke good English as did all the other members of staff we met.
Only one English TV Channel (CNN London), so pretty much the same as most hotels in this price range across France.
We did not have time, or suitable temperatures, to try the pool, but it looked OK.
If arriving on a Sunday the restaurant on site is closed, but you can bring food to prepare in the room, which is an interesting challenge. The local Spar supermarket (located on Cours Gambetta 3 -4 mins away by car) is open on a Sunday and is well stocked, with a excellent selection of wines.
There is a McDonald's and a Chinese Restaurant next door which might be an acceptable alternative as a last resort.
We had a great breakfast, with a very good selection including boiled eggs which you cook yourself!
The coffee, although a self service machine, was fresh ground and very good. Being a buffet breakfast it can really set you up for the day.
All in all good value for money.........

Room Tip: We stayed in a room overlooking the busy roundabout, but with the Air Con set low and the window shu...

We stayed here for one night on our journey down to Spain. The hotel is located about 5 minutes drive from the city centre. On arrival, late afternoon, there was adequate free parking. Check in was relatively smooth. As the restaurant was closed we decided to travel into the town centre where we enjoyed a very nice meal.
The room was more than adequate for our one night stay. We had a one bedroom apartment with a separate lounge and bedroom and a small kitchenette. There was free wifi with a good connection.
We had a good night's sleep but were very disappointed with the breakfast. On arrival in the dining room we found an elderly gentleman dressed in his pyjamas!! If that wasn't bad enough he then started touching all of the food and seemed to be collecting enough food for the rest of his stay. It completely put us off our breakfast. We were disappointed that no staff member remonstrated with him about his unhygienic behaviour.
The hotel had a nice pool but unfortunately we didn't get the chance to make good use of the facilities.

We stayed here for one night on the 20th June 2013. We had travelled from Paris to Agen by train and then caught a taxi from the train station to the hotel as it is not in the centre of town.
On arrival we were greeted warmly - some of the staff speak English which made it very easy for us as our french is limited. We were given a free wifi code for each device we had which we found very handy. The staff in reception were very helpful and friendly.
Our room (number 1) was up one flight of stairs although there was a lift available. The room had a kitchenette, bathroom, lounge area and separate bedroom. The bathroom had a shower over a bath and was spacious and modern. The bed was firm and comfortable.
We met up with friends and went to the bar for a pre dinner drink - once again the staff were friendly and efficient.
We had some laundry to do and when it became apparent that the washing machine was being used one of the staff kindly offered to run it through for us while we were out!! This was waiting for us at reception later in the day.
We had dinner at the restaurant situated next to the hotel reception (La Table d'Armandie) Our meal was wonderful and again the service was friendly and efficient.
One thing we did notice - if you are wanting a taxi in Agen - order one well in advance as in our experience they keep you waiting. (Almost 2 hours in one instance - 2 didn't come at all and the 3rd was there within a few minutes!!)
Overall we were extremely happy with our stay at this hotel - the room was very comfortable and the staff constantly went the extra mile for us. We would highly recommend staying here.

Given it's location and the drive-thru MacDonalds next door - I was happily surpirsed, that this Hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable.

Rooms all seem to have self-catering facilties and are spacoius - even have a small sofa and dining table - If you require them

Room Tip: If you don't wish to venture into the local town the resturant next door is worth a visit.

Very modern contemporary building about 1 mile outside Agen centre but 5 mins walk from the rugby ground so perfect if thats where you are going to watch top class rugby. Its pretty functional and you get an 'apartment' for about 75 euros per night (go for inside rooms overlooking the pool as the outside ones are next to a main road/busy roundabout) with lounge/kitchenette, bedroom and big modern bathroom. All basic fixtures and fittings but perfectly acceptable as long as you are not looking for luxury. Breakfast for 9.5 euros fine and you can get a beer in the bar/lounge areas if you ask. we didn't get back in there until 1am and they were happy to serve us. Staff are great and most speak very good English and are also very accomodating

If you stop there for more than one night you have to remember that you have to service the apartment yourself.............no cleaning or room service but that didn't worry me (there for 2 nights).

Town is about 20-25 mins pleasant walk. Overall great value and very functional especially for Agen Rugby.

Hotel had an easy check-in, friendly and efficient staff, rooms are apartment style very spacious, TV with lots of channels (mainly French), bedrooms are basic and clean. Breakfast was good. Location is not great, it is on a roundabout on the edge of town.
