We visited early September of this year. The villa Victoria is a lovely place to stay. We came with our two children, one 3 years and the other 6 months. The owners had everything we needed for our stay. A highchair, cot, baby bath and buckets and spades for our 3 year old for the beach.
Whether you travel with a family or just a partner the villa has all the things you need. The kitchen is well kitted with all kinds of coffee machines, cutlery, dishes and small bits and pieces for all kinds of cooking. We cooked a lot and I can say it was great to have all the things you need. Steamers, pans, graters, pots, baby plates, good knives and utensils. All in very good condition.
The bathroom was lovely, a nice walk in/wet room modern shower with hot water. The house has a clean airy feel. The outdoor area is nice with a large table and chairs to the front and also another smaller set around the back for late sun and afternoon tea. The house is only a few minutes walk to the beach which made our stay easy with the children. The supermarket is 5 minutes away. The electric shutters for all the windows and doors was good for night time defintately helped the children go to sleep with some darkness!
The most wonderful thing is that the villa is opposite a bakery which is really good, artisan bakery. Also on a Saturday a van arrives with whole cooked rotisserie chickens and potatoes. We were so impressed with the lovely garlic potatoes and chicken we visited twice during our stay! Also a cheese van arrives in the same place outside the bakery and they do a great range of cheeses, really handy to have all these food options on the doorstep of the villa, and so good.
The owners Sandrine and Rudolph are such lovely people. They are very accommodating and answered our many questions before we booked. They meet you and are very thorough in explaining everything you need to know about that villa so you have no problems in wondering where anything is. Nothing is a problem and they are very genuine in caring about your stay and making sure you are happy. Thank you for the wine guys! :) we really enjoyed our time at the villa and a big thank you to Sandrine and Rudolph for looking after us and being so thoughtful. We would recommend this place for a visit to anyone. A lovely choice. Archachon is beautiful and we enjoyed trips to the local fish market, marina and beaches. A must do trip!
Recently stayed at villa Victoria and had the most amazing time. The owners of the villa are really friendly. They had all the equipment ready for our one year old.
The place was immaculate, was such a lovely place to stay in. The place has a gated driveway which can be locked if need be. The outside area is very child friendly. The place has electronic shutters which were brilliant as a security measure but also made the room dark for our toddler when he had his daytime naps.
The beach is just a very short walk away and nearby are shops and a supermarket. Opposite the villa is a bakery which was very handy.
Overall, we had a brilliant time and will most definitely stay here again the the future.
Absolutely enjoyed our stay over Christmas-New Year period. Everything-one-may-need apartment, close to the beach and the town centre. The apartment is tastefully decorated, quiet and kept clean; off-street parking, good Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, could not enjoy the garden as the weather was not warm enough.
The owners, Sandrine and Rodolphe, are an amazing and caring couple, made our stay special - thanks a lot!!!
We spent the most enjoyable and relaxing week at Villa Victoria. It could not be in a better location - the commercial town with its markets, chic shops and restaurants is 10 mins walk in one direction; the fishing port with the best poissonerie and restaurants is 10 mins walk in the opposite direction; and the beach is just 50m across the road. It is possible to just park the car and not get it out again if you want!
Villa Victoria has been tastefully and thoughtfully renovated to make it just perfect for a holiday retreat. It is very well equipped with everything that you could wish for in a holiday home - including many luxury touches!
Lockable gates and electric shutters are fitted for the security conscious and the terrace is very well set up for al-fresco cooking/eating/drinking. The bamboo hedge ensures privacy from passers by.
Our hosts, Sandrine and Rudolphe were on hand if needed and were full of ideas and suggestions to make our stay in Arcachon as good as it possibly could be.
We would love to visit again!
We stayed at Villa Victoria for 6 nights in May and had a first class experience from start to finish. Rudolphe (Sandrine's husband) was there to meet us at the apartment when we arrived from the airport and showed us around and how to operate the electric window shutters etc. He was kind enough to provide us with some additional things for our 1 year old daughter - a highchair, a play pen and mat, a plastic bowl and spoon. This was alongside the travel cot already being set up, complete with sheets, duvet and pillow, plus a baby bath ready for us to use in the bottom of the shower.
Everything had been thought of, and I mean EVERYTHING! There were toys in the shed for playing on the beach, barbecue equipment, a Nespresso coffee machine and capsules, a great selection of utensils and kitchen equipment, basics for cooking like oil, herbs, salt and pepper etc, and helpful items like toilet roll, kitchen roll, foil and cling-film that save you having to buy them just for a short stay.
Towels (and lots of them) are provided at the villa so you don't need to take your own (although we took our beach towel from home). There are two outdoor seating areas - a table and chairs, plus deckchairs at the front of the property by the barbecue, and a more relaxed seating area round the side of the property. The decked area is screened from the road by bamboo in planters.
The property itself is located a stones throw from the beach. We found the road (Boulevard de la Plage) a little noisy, particularly in the evenings when there were lots of scooters/mopeds going up and down. It wasn't as bad when the electric shutters at the windows were down. The boulangerie (Festival des Pains) right across the road was very handy, and open from first thing in the morning until 19:00/19:30 at night. From Wednesday onwards a Charcuterie and Fromagerie van parks on the boulangerie forecourt and also stays open until 19:30.
All in all, Villa Victoria is a wonderful holiday apartment and we can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you Sandrine and Rudolphe for making our holiday so great!
