We found the host and hostess Kerri and Tomas charming and most helpful. The accommodation is well kept, spacious and well equipped. The a/c in the bedrooms were most welcome, excellent location, great for exploring we would return without hesitation.
We booked 5 nights here having heard about Kerry & Tomas's new venture through mutual friends.
Having looked at the website a lot before arrival, our first impression exceeded all expectations, the photos don't really do it justice. The approach is along a tree-lined avenue passing through huge gardens, which is only half the land that the property sits on, just amazing and plenty of space for the kids to play and run around. The gite is full of charm and has a private pool which is nice and secluded.
Kerry & Tomas were wonderful hosts, making us feel very welcome and offering plenty of advice on local places to visit plus activities. We had intended to do so much with the kids but it was hard to leave the pool! The kayaking was a fun afternoon for all the family and we took advantage of the mountain bike trails all around. It would also be a great place for road-biking with quiet roads and beautiful scenery.
We had a quick tour of the adjacent manor house as well, which looks very nice too with the most wonderful breakfast room looking over the gardens and main pool.
A real bonus is having the Black Duck gastro-pub a matter of metres away with great food, Guinness and IPA on tap. Overall, we can't recommend the Charmes of Carlucet enough. We will be back, more than once hopefully, as there's so much more to discover. 5 stars, without a doubt.
