Despite the weather this is a lovely family-run hotel up in the hills overlooking the old town of Sarlat 1km away. Good views with comfortable accommodation.
As with most French hotels you only get one chair in a double room! The bath/shower had a deepish step down & without a rail and/or bath mat was quite slippery.
The cuisine was excellent although rather limited to three main courses to choose from so would be difficult for any-one staying for more than two or three nights & wanting to eat in.
Due to the weather one didn't sit out on the terrace so the indoor lounge area could become crowded; Nice open, log fire. Pool available - but no takers! Some of the ground floor bedrooms had small garden areas for sitting out in.
Stephanie & Jean-François Redon have taken this over and worked wonders;

Room Tip: Either side of the 1st floor have good views.

Stayed the first 2 nights of a 3 night stay. Lovely spot out of town. Achievable walk into town but a challenge coming back. Good training for the start of our walk through the area. Book dinner when you book your accommodation. Food, service, wines ambience highly recommended. Breakfast yummy! Room clean but basic. Would recommend they install a non slip shower base in room 210.

This hotel was provided in the package for a cycle tour, perched at the top of a vicious hill it was a relief after the climb to spend 2 nights enjoying the friendly hospitality of the hotel owner and his crew, clean adequate rooms with good views, and an excellent gourmet restaurant with great views into a valley.

Room Tip: travel by car!

Hotel Meysset is attractive and clean. It is located on the hill above the village of Sarlat. We apparently drove in from the less traveled road and had difficulty locating it. We arrived late afternoon and the dining room reservations were already full, so we needed to drive back to town in the dark. The room was clean, but despite being located in a quiet area, the room was noisy being able to hear the bathroom pipes and door slamming of other travelers. Despite help from the lady at reception, we never were able to get the WIFI to work.

Stayed at Le Meysset for five nights during a ferociously hot week in August. Temperatures were up in the forties at times, so we really appreciated the hotel's lovely pool, which has a very picturesque setting in the grounds, looking out over the valley. Very comfortable reclining poolside chairs, although given the number of guests using the pool, a few more recliners would have been helpful. It would also have been nice to have been able to buy poolside drinks, but in fairness, this is a small hotel and doesn't have a bar as such, although staff were happy to serve us drinks on the terrace, which also had splendid views and was very relaxing.

The hotel has been refurbished to a very good and comfortable standard. Our room was decorated in a fairly contemporary style - I think all rooms are different. Bed was very comfortable and big shuttered windows opened up for another lovely view. Good sized bathroom and separate toilet, all working well with quality fittings and very clean. Shutters also meant we were able to keep the bugs out of the room at night whilst keeping the air circulating. Generally, the hotel has been furnished and decorated throughout to a high standard. The terrace, with it's big comfy outdoor sofas, was a particular treat for an evening drink and breakfast in the morning.

We ate at the hotel on one night only. The menu is quite sophisticated and not on the cheap side, but the quality of the food was high and couldn't be faulted. I think we were a bit unlucky with the service, which generally seemed good for everyone else, but we had to wait for over an hour before our starters arrived. However, the waitress was apologetic and brought us an extra snack to keep us going whilst we waited. We did enjoy breakfast (buffet style) at the hotel each morning. There is a vast array of restaurants available in Sarlat, so there was no need to eat at the hotel every night.

Hotel is well positioned for touring the Sarlat and Dordogne area and is in a very peaceful and picturesque setting about five minutes drive outside the Town centre. It's walk able (just about) into Sarlat, but given the heat whilst we were there, we didn't try it and drove into the Town each day/night. Parking in Sarlat isn't too bad, although we did have to make use of the car parks on the outskirts of the Town, which then meant a five or six minute walk into the centre. You really do need to have a car for getting around the area, but the Hotel itself has plenty of parking on site.

Overall, the hotel has been refurbished to a lovely standard, is located in an idyllic position and offers pretty much everything you need at a reasonable price. The staff were very obliging.
