We stayed at La Peyriere for three weeks at the first part of May 2018. We enjoyed everything about the house and location. The communication with both the owners and the local staff was outstanding. They proactively reached out to us several times to make sure that everything was in order, which was greatly appreciated even though we had no issues or requests.
At La Peyriere we had the best of everything, we had to make no compromises. The house was close to Sarlat medieval town center, a quick 10 minute walk, and it was also trivial to park the car at the house and drive to nearby towns and villages. The house itself was a great combination of classic old Perigard golden stone construction, lots of windows, and modern amenities with brand new kitchen appliances. City center and bucolic countryside, old and new, convenience and amenities… La Peyriere had the best of each.
The only cautionary note for future potential guests is that the walk back from town is uphill. We are in our early 60s and in moderare shape and it was no problem (we walked in every morning for croissants and often in the evening for dinner). But if you have health or walking/leg issues then you should plan on using the car to drive to town.
We really can't rate the communication or the home itself high enough to accurately represent our appreciation and enjoyment during our stay. And May was a great time to visit Sarlat. Things were happening and yet it wasn't too crowded. The weather was variable, some days cool for walking and exploring , some days warm enough to lounge by the pool. We definitely hope to return!
Another couple of weeks in Karen's excellent villa. This is our 4th time and as a family we've loved everything about it, from its location, walking distance to Sarlat, to its facilities. This year Karen has upgraded the kitchen and the patio furniture. Great facilities, lovely home and we love being there. Well done Karen.
We booked Villa La Peyriere well in advance due to its unique location within an easy walking distance of the centre of Sarlat, and because we wanted to be in town for the summer music festival.
We wanted a villa with a pool, close to the centre, that offered privacy without feeling "isolated". That's a tall order for Sarlat but Villa La Peyriere certainly ticked all the boxes.
From first booking enquiry through to end of stay Karen responded promptly to any queries and kept us well informed with very accurate information.
The Villa is very well appointed and has all that a family could ask for. On arrival, we found it very clean and the pool and gardens all well maintained.
We opted to use the lovely stone built barbeque for a number of meals but there is also a gas Weber for those who prefer that method.
The elevated outdoor dining area was a lovely place to enjoy meals.
The medieval centre of Sarlat is less than a 10-minute walk away and is a delight with all of its restaurants, individual shops and of course the twice weekly market.
It is also a fantastic base for exploring the wider area of the Dordogne
The Villa is in a great situation within close proximity and walking distance to Sarlat which in itself is a wonderful old town. So pleased we had the pool to come back to with temperatures over 30 degrees! fixtures and fittings are of a very high quality and can thoroughly recommend the villa.
We were 2 couples travelling together, and found this house perfect for us! It was great to each have our "own wing", very private and quiet. It wasn't quite hot enough to enjoy the pool, but we spent hours every evening sitting on the upper deck, sipping wine & eating our dinner cooked on the BBQ. The kitchen was great to cook in, although a little dark if we started late, and the laundry under the house in the "Hobbit Hole" worked very well, with clothes hanging on the garden line. We always found parking in town easy, so must confess to taking the car instead of strolling down.
If you're looking for a delightful home-away-from-home, you have found it here!

As other reviewers have highlighted the outside space and fixtures are just great. Lot's of different parts to the gardens with nice shaded areas too for those hot summer days. The pool area is a wonderful space to cool down, chill out, sunbathe etc. We spent most of our time outside either using the BBQ's or cooking inside in the big well kitted kitchen but eating outside later.
The downstairs space is good with plenty of space to eat and relax. Plenty of dvd's, books to keep you entertained if you needed anything. The bedrooms are a good size and it's always practical having two bathrooms. If your looking at this you will be considering Sarlat as a destination. Needless to say it is as stunning as described. Loads of places to eat out, have a drink and just soak up the atmosphere. Warning you may get Duck/Goose overload! If you do need a change get a burger from Les TonTons - fantastic.
We have just had the most wonderful week here.
Both couples are foodie people so we visited markets and cooked every night.
The pantry basics were great and the kitchen is well set out.
The BBQ , Grill and outdoor area is exactly as you see by the photos and we would sit outside and enjoy our champagne and wine.
We were lucky enough to have a week of over 35 degrees so we enjoyed the pool area every afternoon.
The only problem was the time went to quick I would recommend a min 2 weeks.
The town of Sarlat you could spend wandering around for 2 days.
Karen was fantastic and prompt in all if our enquiries.
I would definatley stay here again when I'm next in France.
You could enjoy this house any time of the year we were picturing the beautiful garden in the winter.
