My wife and I met two of our friends here and we spent 5 nights here in June. If you're looking for a comfortable place to stay to explore the Dordogne region - look no further.
The hosts Jo and Steve will immediately make you feel very comfortable and will provide plenty of advice on restaurants and places to visit. But first let me add a few words about the property itself. Les Trois Jardins is about a 7 minute walk to Sarlat's medieval centre, which is full of restaurants, suitable for all budgets. You can park right next to the B&B in their driveway. It is nice and secure with an automatic iron gate that closes behind you. There is a lovely garden at the level of the house with beautiful flowers and a bridge over a little creek. A terrace, on which you can have breakfast, if the weather is good (it always was for us) overlooks the garden. The breakfasts were mouth watering. Jo goes to that extra effort to always provide a little extra. So in addition to the fresh breads and pastries, yoghurt, juices, home made jams, bowls of fruit, there were things like boiled eggs, ham, sausages or smoked salmon.
Our rooms were up one flight of stairs. On the landing there is a fridge for guests in which you may put water, etc. Jo also provides bottles of water on an honesty basis (you drop money into a container). The rooms were a good size, nicely decorated, plenty of storage space and a comfortable bed. The en-suite bathroom was also a good size with a very nice shower. The whole place was very comfortable and after sightseeing you could sit on the terrace and relax before dinner. True to its name there were two other lovely gardens at the back of the house.
Sarlat itself is an ideal spot from which to explore the area and there is much to see. You could easily spend several weeks here and still not see everything. So overall this is a great spot, what more could you want - wonderfully hospitable hosts, a relaxing terrace, superb breakfasts, comfortable rooms with en-suite in an ideal location.
