“An outstanding B&B”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

My wife and I met two of our friends here and we spent 5 nights here in June. If you're looking for a comfortable place to stay to explore the Dordogne region - look no further.

The hosts Jo and Steve will immediately make you feel very comfortable and will provide plenty of advice on restaurants and places to visit. But first let me add a few words about the property itself. Les Trois Jardins is about a 7 minute walk to Sarlat's medieval centre, which is full of restaurants, suitable for all budgets. You can park right next to the B&B in their driveway. It is nice and secure with an automatic iron gate that closes behind you. There is a lovely garden at the level of the house with beautiful flowers and a bridge over a little creek. A terrace, on which you can have breakfast, if the weather is good (it always was for us) overlooks the garden. The breakfasts were mouth watering. Jo goes to that extra effort to always provide a little extra. So in addition to the fresh breads and pastries, yoghurt, juices, home made jams, bowls of fruit, there were things like boiled eggs, ham, sausages or smoked salmon.

Our rooms were up one flight of stairs. On the landing there is a fridge for guests in which you may put water, etc. Jo also provides bottles of water on an honesty basis (you drop money into a container). The rooms were a good size, nicely decorated, plenty of storage space and a comfortable bed. The en-suite bathroom was also a good size with a very nice shower. The whole place was very comfortable and after sightseeing you could sit on the terrace and relax before dinner. True to its name there were two other lovely gardens at the back of the house.

Sarlat itself is an ideal spot from which to explore the area and there is much to see. You could easily spend several weeks here and still not see everything. So overall this is a great spot, what more could you want - wonderfully hospitable hosts, a relaxing terrace, superb breakfasts, comfortable rooms with en-suite in an ideal location.

Lovely B&B right on the edge of the medieval town so it was great to be able to walk right into town with the kids without a long hike. Very comfortable room and having a little kitchen just made things so much easier. A lovely welcome and the kids were delighted to be able to feed the fish.

Les Trois Jardins was the perfect homebase for our explorations in Sarlat and the Dordogne region. The Picasso Room is spacious and comfortable, perfect for our family of three (it could easily sleep 5), with a curtained nook for our daughter to sleep. The room takes up the entire top floor of the house and is accessed from the outside via somewhat steep stairs. The room has a tv and sitting area and a kitchenette, as well as free wifi. The center of Sarlat is a five minute walk away, but the inn is quiet and felt secluded with its lovely gardens. The only thing we heard in the evening was some kids playing street soccer.

Jo and Steve were gracious and helpful, answering many of my questions about the area even as we made arrangements months in advance. They offered helpful hints for things to see in the area. Breakfast (extra cost) was delicious, fresh, and served on the patio. Their two dogs were well-mannered and a hit with our daughter.

All in all, we loved our stay at Les Trois Jardins and would definitely stay there again were we to return to the region. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing after the long flight from the US and drive from Paris. It was really nice to have English-speaking hosts as we got oriented during our first few days in France. Our 11-year-old daughter expressed several times that she would like to move in to the inn permanently.

We spent 3 nights of our 30th Anniversary Return to France vacation in the Bonheur room at Les Trois Jardins in Sarlat and really enjoyed our stay here. It was a lovely room with a view of the gardens, clean and cheerful with comfortable beds, and great hosts. Great breakfasts with fresh breads, pastries, fresh local fruit, and other choices. Our hosts were very helpful giving us lots of info on the Dordogne cave paintings we'd come to see and where to eat in Sarlat, a short walk away. We had bought a picnic lunch at the market and brought it back to eat on the terrace and they brought out a cutting board and knife plus cushions for the chairs and were very helpful. When we left Jo gave us a lovely small bouquet of lavendar to take with us on our trip! A great place to stay!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this B&B. All of the wonderful things other reviewers have mentioned are absolutely true! The beds were incredibly comfortable and the spacious rooms were decorated beautifully. The bathrooms were newly remodeled and very clean. Our hosts, Jo and Steve, could not have been more gracious. They were always willing to lend advice on where to go and what to do, as this was our first time in the Dordogne region. We were so grateful for their kindness and insight. The breakfasts, which we enjoyed outdoors on the terrace, were absolutely wonderful! So much yummy, fresh, local deliciousness! The location is fantastic for exploring Sarlat and the surrounding region. It was a short, easy walk into the old town center of Sarlat and the ability to park right there was a huge plus. We were SO sad when it was time to leave this heavenly B&B and would return in an instant.

Jo and Steve own and run a top notch B & B in Sarlat, in the heart of the Dordogne area. My wife and I extended our stay because of their hospitality and willingness to please their guests. Great location within Sarlat with a gentle quick walk to the old town. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Great breakfast on offer. Overall a wonderful stay and highly recommended if you wish to explore the very numerous sights of the Dordogne.

Situated a short stroll from the old town and set in a rambling yet well maintained garden this is the ideal property to explore the delights of the region.
We enjoyed three nights in the self-contained Picasso suite. With its separate entrance above the main house, spacious bedroom and sitting area, large bathroom and terrace we felt a sense of peace and relaxation.
Our industrious hosts,Jo and Steve, served a delicious and varied breakfast on the terrace and readily offered advice on local restaurants and attractions.
Look no further, this is a gem!
