“More than we expected!”
Reviewed 28 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

When we arrived at the house, we were pleasantly suprised at how large and well equipted it was. It has three large bedrooms with private bathrooms. The industrial-sized water heater provided more than enough hot water for the four of us and the bathrooms were large and spaceous. We really appreciated its location just north of downtown Sarlat that allowed us to walk to the Saturday market and see all the sights in town. We used the kitchen regularly preparing the local foods. We enjoyed wine on the veranda that was perfect for this time of year and overlooked the pool which we did not try this time of year. The only complaint was the lack of Wi-Fi connection and the local Wi-Fi in the internet cafes is slow and spotty with making connections. We were within easy driving distance of the cave drawing sites and many beautiful castles. The food in the area is spectacular and the people helful and friendly. It is a bargain if you're travelling with friends and family.

“Secluded and lovely accommodations in the midst of a wonderful and ancient French town.”
Reviewed 10 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We recently traveled with my sister and brother in law to explore the Dordogne region and stayed in this most delightful private stone cottage with lovely amenities. The cottage was a close walk to all we could have hoped for - several Boulangerie for our morning run for croissants, a small grocery store, multiple restaurant choices for our evening outings and of course the fantastic market on Saturday and Wednesday. Coming back after the days adventure - we could relax by the pool and plan our next day's outing. It was the perfect place to afford us easy access to the surrounding region and a comfortable retreat at the end of the day.

“Terrific house in a terrific location.”
Reviewed 7 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This was the perfect house for us. Private and secluded but an easy walk to the center of old Sarlat for market days, restaurants, shops, etc. And Sarlat was the perfect location for day trips in and around the Dordorgne. The house is charming, easy to use, with most of the amenities one would expect. The owners were very friendly and spoke english. The pool was a bonus. Getting from the house to the major roads was simple and each day we would return to use the outdoor terrace for wine and cheese before going out to dinner.

“All we could want with an added friendly welcome!”
Reviewed 12 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

This property gave us all we could have wanted, 2 mins walk to all that the wonderful town of Sarlat has to offer, plus a pool, outside eating space, garden and 3 bedrooms.
Our teenagers were able to be independent and had their own bed/bathrooms, they loved the pool and we sat most evenings outside.
Hamish and his son were there to solve any problems we had (car trouble!), to clean the pool regularly and to advise on local attractions etc.
We stayed for 2 weeks with a mid-week clean (which I recommend) and had wonderful weather! The pool was essential to cool off!
We definitely recommend this property and rental owners to all.

We are so glad that you all liked the house and enjoyed the area. Sarlat is a lovely town and the weather was superb.

It is a great place to be with so many attractions within easy reach by foot or by car; All the main must see things are within a 10 minute drive of the house including Domme, Roque Gageac, Castelnaud, Beynac, Marqueyssac, Dordogne river etc.

Best wishes & happy holidays, Xanthe, Hamish and Rory.

“Lovely house in a beautiful town”
Reviewed 1 July 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We spent 2 weeks in France. The first week in Sarlat, the second week in Paris. If I could do it over, I would stay in Sarlat for 2 weeks. A very beautiful region with interesting history, great food and nice people. The house was perfect. Charming, quiet, comfortable and the pool was great. Loved that it was walking distance to town. We will be back.

We hear this more and more........the Perigord Noir is a sleeping beauty that is waking up!

Paris is great and the most visited place in France, with Provence second favourite, but the Sarlat area is now giving Provence a run for it's money according to the tourist industry bigwigs.

There are so many sites of important interest in the Perigord Noir that it does take longer than a week to see them all. We've lived here for 13+ years and haven't seen all the Chateaux and Caves within a short drive of Sarlat!

We look forward to your Sarlat discovery part two!

“Fabulous!”
Reviewed 15 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Xanthe personifies "Ms Guest Services"! We were 3 couples from Breckenridge, CO and were warmly greeted by Xanthe. She had so many great ideas where to go, what to do, etc. She is from England so we had no language issues. The house was charming and just as shown in the pictures. The location was so beautiful and so quiet for being right in the middle of town. Unfortunately, it was unseasonably cold so we couldn't use the pool, but we sure did enjoy the fireplace! So highly recommend this home!!!!
