This is a lovely cottage in a great location. The cottage is one of three buildings, of the others, one is occupied by the owner, when in France, and the other is awaiting renovation.
The cottage is in the middle of large fields, surrounded by woods, all owned by our host so no danger of any disruption or disturbances except no4mak, everyday farming activity. No other holiday homes in sight,
The cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard indeed, with no expense spared, and a great deal of thought has gone into the inventory. The kitchen, although more than adequate, is due for an upgrade, I understand, at some time in the future.
The pool is lovely with comfy loungers and alarm system.
A very quiet location allows for a great sleep. But lots of wildlife at night so plenty to see into the night - bats, sanglier, deer, owls, etc.
Well stocked gardens, lots of roses and a herb garden for renters use. A great fruit orchard with delicious cherries and soft fruit as well as apples, pears and a huge walnut grove.
Very well located for many Dordogne sights including Sarlat, Rocamadour, Kes Eyzies, Lascaux, Gouffre de Padirac and much more. The informative ‘black folder’ even gives local ma4ket days - you can go to a market every day 8f the week!
No negative comments are possible. This cottage suits our need perfectly
This was the best. Perched alone on a hill top, it is a breathtakingly beautiful 300 year old farmstead with gorgeous views and a pool. The farm is equidistant between Les Eyzies and Sarlat (15 minutes each) and within one hour of many, many attractions. Marquay is a small hamlet 5 minutes drive away.
I really liked the utter privacy of this location. There are no neighbours. There are fields with cows and forests full of birdsong. Sunsets are gorgeous and dinners on the terrace are wonderful.
Hiking is excellent with opportunities to see foxes, rabbits, and deer and the tracks of wild boar. Much safer hiking than where I am from!
The farm has great wifi too.
Tip is to buy a paper road map to supplement the GPS as the area is difficult to navigate and can confuse dumber GPS systems.
