“Honeymoon Stop-wish we stayed longer”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

My wife and I stayed here two nights from May 11th -13th 2014. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend La Lanterne to anyone and everyone. The location was great, staff was incredibly helpful and wonderful to talk to, and there are many sights to see within a short drive if so desired. Richard was especially helpful in planning our foray into the French countryside and choosing places to eat in the evenings. Jardin d'Harmonie and Le Presidial were the two dinner recommendations and these were the two best meals we had on our two week trip hands down. Breakfast was great both days and the atmosphere of Sarlat was wonderful. We stayed in the "La Lanterne" room (one flight of stairs up from ground level) that overlooked the courtyard which was great. I recommend asking about the history of the building (quite interesting!)

One thing to note is that free wifi is available in the living room downstairs and not in the rooms (which didn't bother us a bit). As soon as we left we were planning another trip! Thanks again!

Room Tip: La Lanterne (the room) was quiet and cozy with a nice view of the courtyard

My wife and I stayed in La Lanterne for 3 nights in July. From the moment we arrived, Richard made us feel incredibly welcome and at home. The B&B is perfectly situated to explore Sarlat and Richards suggestions for dining we're excellent. I would highly recommend having breakfast and hope to return for another stay soon!

Do yourself a favour and book at least four nights in order to immerse yourself in this medieval town of Sarlat and the surrounding Dordogne area.
Hosts Terri, Debbie and Richard provide a wonderful service with Richard's breakfasts a work of art!
The accommodation is adjacent to the centre of town where many wonderful restaurants can be found.

Top stuff!

Room Tip: Book early in summer as this is a very popular choice of accommodation.

We stayed at La Lanterne for 4 nights (30.614-4.7.14). Our ovreall experience was very good. The location is excellent. The staff was extremely helpful. Breakfast was very good. One remark is the size of the room and the bathroom - relatively small for 2 people. But, nevertheless - we will definitely chose this hotel again and will come back if we get a chance!!

Room Tip: The room on the second floor by the entrance (Not sure about the name - maybe Tapestry room?) if not...

My fiancé and I spent three wonderful nights at La Lanterne early July. It Is very difficult to add to all the great reviews on this site but here goes...
Right from the moment we arrived I knew we were in for a treat. Terri, Richard and Debbie are lovely lovely people who want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Richard helped us with our bags and showed my other half the best place to park our car for free!! As soon as we had dropped our bags Terri (amazing lady) and Richard welcomed us with cold beers and wine (what b&b does this?) The accommodation is without doubt the most beautiful and charming we have ever stayed in, all the rooms are delightful, Debbie works really hard to keep everything pristine. The little courtyard is divine just to sit and relax with a glass of wine and is the envy of everyone who passes (as they peep through the wrought iron gate). Richards breakfasts are the best, trust me. I really could go on and on with loving praises of this place but I won't, my advise is go and experience it for yourself you will not be disappointed. Thank you La Lanterne for a truly rememberable stay we will be back, felt like we were leaving old friends.

We had originally planned on a 2 night stay, near the end of 3-4 weeks in France. We showed up a day early and Terri, Debbie, and Richard were able to accommodate us. We had a wonderful stay. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The room was very comfortable. The location was perfect, basically right in the middle of the old town, with many shops and restaurants, 1-2 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again. We felt very much at home. The dogs, Frodo and Fibi, are adorable.

Room Tip: Only 6 guest rooms. The other guests also seemed very happy to be at La Lanterne.
