“Quiet stay in a busy town.”
Reviewed 21 May 2012 via mobile

Lovely hideaway within a few minutes walking to the center of town. Peaceful garden spot. Nice hosts. The breakfast is plentiful. The beds are comfortable. As an extra gracious host, Wendy offered to launder our clothes as we had endured almost two weeks of rain during our trip. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon lunch of cheddar, French goat cheese, olives by the fireplace outside on the patio. Very romantic.

I must say that Wendy and David are among the most charming hosts that we have encountered in our travels. They make a terrific team and warmly welcome you into their home.
Their house is on a back street (dead end) hence the availability of parking. Nice gardens where the flowers had already started to bloom when we made our visit.
We had a small attic room (Montfort). Cutely fixed up but nowhere really to sit except for the bed. There was not much space to set down our suitcases except under the slanted rafters in the ceiling where I bumped my head a few times. The bed was comfortable enough. The room was very clean.
The bathroom also was tiny but the shower was a good size and worked very well.
The diningroom for breakfast was very nice with a buffet of cheeses, meats, cereals, yogurts, pastries, jams, good coffee and hard boiled eggs which was nice.
There was also a small and cozy common area downstairs to go and have a glass of wine before heading out for dinner. This is where the guests seemed to stop by at the end of the day and exchange ideas for good visits in the area. In this room there was a computer to use as well as an honesty bar, which we did not use.
Wendy and David were always around to answer any questions about local attractions and restaurants. They steered us to some good restaurants for dinner.
Wendy even did a load of washing for me when I asked about laundromats in the area.
The location of this B & B is so close to the old city. A five minute walk to the shops and restaurants. As it is on a back street, it was nice and quiet, except for the rooster crowing every morning (which I rather liked).
Any inconveniences of theroom were certainly made up by our most charming hosts with their humerous and engaging ways.
Thank you Wendy and David!

Our recent three night stay at Le Jardin was delightful. Wendy and David were thoughtful and relaxed hosts for whom nothing was too much trouble. Our room was pretty and comfortable and breakfast was a lively affair. The B&B is perfectly located in relation to the beautiful old streets of Sarlat.

My wife and I spent two nights during a six week trip through Italy and France. Although two nights is not long enough, Wendy and David suggested an itinerary which ensured that we saw most of the special sites. This was greatly appreciated. Our room was quite large and perfectly clean. The breakfasts were a great way to start the day. There is a short walk to cafes and restaraunts and ample carparking. When we booked our room Wendy warned us that our car's sat nav system would send us down the wrong route which it tried to do. Not a problem. We reverted to a real map and found our way easily to Le Jardin. We will definately stay again.

My husband & I stayed 4 nights in April and are looking forward to our return. All the reviews except for a few describe our experience. I'm not going to repeat the obvious, the reviews speak sincerely, this is a great place to stay.

I stayed here with my family a couple of weeks ago for 2 nights and loved it. We were on a big trip round UK, France and Spain staying in mixture of apartments and B & B's. I chose Le Jardin Sarlat based on reviews on here ( which was such a fantastic help when planning my trip) and as is usually the way with tripadvisor recommendations, we weren't disappointed. We arrived in this very cute little narrow street and walked into a large and beautiful garden, met at the door by Wendy. Wendy and David are English and I can see why they moved to this divine part of the world. Their house is lovely with 4 upstairs rooms used as guest rooms. The rooms are all called after local towns and attractions. We had 2 of those rooms. The childrens room (agges 20,22 x 2) Castlenaud - was large and bright with a huge bathroom. Our room (Beynac) was also lovely with king size bed, wardrobe and dressing table and good sized bathroom. Coffee and tea and toilietries were in the rooms as well (lacking from a number of places we stayed). There were nice views of the beautiful garden from each room. There is also a guest sitting room downstairs for us to use and we had drinks here with Wendy and David when we arrived. There was an honesty bar and we could help ourselves to drinks and pay a very small amount for a bottle of wine (4 Euros). There was also a computer with internet and a printer that we could use which was great. It was also good to meet some of the other guests staying here and have a chat. There is wifi here as well for your own computers/ipads etc.
Le Jardin Sarlat is very central as well - an easy walk to beautiful downtown Sarlat's medieval town.
However the real advantage of staying here are the hosts. As my daughter described them " a great team". Wendy and David go out of their way to make your stay really lovely. They are warm and funny and very helpful from recommendations for restaurants to making suggestions on what to see in the area (and despite alot of research done by myself and my daughter there is still nothing better than the locals suggestions as lets face it - the guide books make every little French town sound fantastic and while they all are with limited time it's hard to see them all). They were also keen to hear about our adventures during the day and what we thought of the restaurants we tried in town. Breakfast is 8 euros each and was good value. This was a mix of cold meats, muesli, yogurts, fruit, cheese, bagettes and pastries. One morning we also had boiled eggs. Don't miss Wendy's Yorkshire tea - the nicest tea i've ever had. She also gave me some teabags to take with me and enjoy on our trip.
There are also tables and seats on the verandah and in the garden and can imagine in the warmer months it would be so lovely to sit out here for drinks and breakfast.
And of course not to be forgotten is the gorgeous Oscar, their big friendly dog and Bruno his bear.
We all had a really lovely stay here and I definitely recommend staying here and will definitely be staying here again if we are lucky enough to return to the beautiful Dordogne.

My husband and I spent a relaxing week at Le Jardin using it as a base for day trips. The location is perfect...on a very quiet street just five minutes from the center of everything. The hosts,Wendy and David, are gracious, intelligent and practical: this makes for a wonderful experience. They provided suggestions for itineraries, restaurants, as well as band aids and maps...and with a delightful British sense of humor.
The honor bar became a gathering place now and then for conversation with other guests. Just a delightful experience all round.
So glad we went.
