Les Cordeliers Bed and Breakfast

After reading all the reviews I had felt confident in this choice of B and B in Sarlat. We don't usually stay in B&Bs preferring Inns and small Hotels but decided to give this a try. Yes the Rooms are large but.... The furniture is sparse, the floors are covered in wall to wall carpet including the bathroom which we found particularly distasteful. We didn't race down to breakfast usually arrived between 8:30-9:00 and although we were offered a choice of cooked to order eggs the small buffet table was always picked over and often empty bowls/ baskets which were not replaced.also the breakfast room was deathly quiet and you felt like you couldn't have a conversation as it would echo throughout the room- no carpet here. Background music would have really helped here. The professional pictures are very misleading as I thought this place was located on a quiet street by a park. Real location is by a loud busy street opposite a small garden area.i would not recommend this place-did not have the ambiance we were hoping for and found everywhere else in France.

We stayed five nights in Room No 5 at Les Cordeliers Bed and Breakfast recently and cannot recommend it highly enough to everyone. The furnishings in our very spacious room, with large en suite bathroom were wonderful . The cleanliness of the rooms, and the helpfulness of the owners, Chris and Amanda was truly "above and beyond the call of duty". They were incredible hosts and so helpful with their knowledge of the town and the area in general. You even get free bottles of water, coffee, tea, wine, beer and snacks provided all day long in the little kitchen. The position of Les Cordeliers is ideal for the old and more modern town, restaurants, shops etc. - all within easy walking distance. Breakfast is incredible - fresh orange juice, fruits, cheeses, hams, eggs cooked to your choice etc. We shall certainly return to Les Cordeliers, and can recommend it to anyone thinking of a break in this beautiful part of the Dordogne. Please be assured that everything you read in these reviews is absolutely spot on.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in June. The rooms are completely modern and roomy but with a true provincial feel. The location is perfect for the old city. Breakfast fresh squeezed orange juice and made to order eggs are a great start for the day. More than that, Chris and Amanda go out of their way to make you feel that you are truly a guest and not a customer. Chris went so far as to lead us into the old city to the restaurant he recommended for the first night., I would go back again and would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed for 3 nights in May. Room 3 was very spacious with a view out to the square. Very well located for the town. A lovely little kitchen nook off the stairs to make drinks also with free drinks and snacks was a very nice touch. Chris and Amanda were wonderful, helpful hosts and the breakfasts delicious especially the poached eggs, thank you. The beds were very comfortable and room quiet. If you want TV it is not for you. Car parking is a short walk from the B&B but not a problem. One tip dont get there on a rainy Friday evening, we did and missed the B&B first time around so had another slow trip in traffic around the town. The market on Saturday morning is a must we spent the whole day walking around all the streets full of market stalls. A wonderful peaceful base to explore what the Dordogne has to offer.

Room Tip: Room 3 very spacious with a nice view of the square.

My wife and I stayed at this B&B on June 24 and 25 2014. The room was good but the hospitality from owners Chris and Amanda was outstanding. Very helpful in planning things to see and do. The breakfast (fruit, breads, fresh squeezes orange juice and eggs) was the best we had in France. They were kind enough to do some laundry for us as well. The INN is right across the street from the old town - full of great shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Room 2 was very large.

This property absolutely gets top marks. From cleanliness to our family room size to the wonderful breakfasts to its very convenient location to the humor and grace of the hosts, Chris and Amanda, all of us loved it. Chris has a great British humor and you can talk with him for a while. He has a great knowledge of Sarlat's restaurants and sites. The lack of on site parking is the only negative but Les Cordeliers is absolutely worth staying at.
