“Not expensive nice decorated and clean”

They have a mexican, japanes, english etc room styles (one of each) we had a mexican room with a beautiful hand made washing stand .Looked all nice and new and everything was proper and clean. The wooden floor was a bit noisy on several places but we did not hear any noise from other rooms. No fridge and coffee maker.59 euro for a double without breakfast which you can add for 7 euro pp. a bit pricy for what you get.Overall real nice hotel for a very reasonable price.

This is a well run and good value establishment but it is rather at the wrong end of things in Oloron if you're looking for a meal.

We finished a seven day walk in Oloron and were looking forward to a nice room and a good meal on the night of completion. We got the nice room and enjoyed a couple of excellent glasses of beer before going on an extended tour of Oloron in search of something worthwhile to eat since the hotel doesn't do food in the evening. We eventually settled on quite a decent if inauspicious cafe about a half mile from the hotel, next to the park which dominates that section of the town, but the rest of the area was bereft of anything approaching attractiveness in eating options.

Our room was the splendidly outrageous African Room and we were delighted with the free breakfast concession for walkers. It was only after breakfast, when we wandered up to the old cathedral area that we saw what Oloron had to offer in terms of interesting eating.Had we asked the night before,I'm sure that the owner of L'Astrolabe would have pointed us in the right direction but, even so,we'd have had approaching a mile to walk to get there.

Very pleasant rooms, excellent owner but be ready to walk for your supper.

We booked this hotel to go to following a tough four days' walking in the Pyrenees and staying in mountain huts. We wanted comfort and a little luxury on a relatively small budget, and also had to find a hotel that could accommodate four children and two adults without us having to book three double rooms. The proprietor was extremely helpful and arranged for two camp beds to be put in one of the larger rooms, so that our four children were in one room (the Moroccan) and we were just down the hall from them (our oldest is fifteen and the hotel felt extremely safe and secure with a locked door with keypad). Everything in the hotel pleased us; the welcome was charming; the hotel has a lovely old world feel, with beautful polished oak floorboards and good furniture, and is also fresh and clean. The rooms are each themed on a different country's decorative style, but not to the point of being chichi or pastiched. We were in l'Anglaise, which had chintz curtains, elegant painted wood furniture and a big bed. All rooms have ensuite showers. The breakfast was phenomenally good - the best we've ever had in France - and was served with great friendliness by the madame. The price of the rooms was very reasonable - I think it cost us £100 for the two rooms, with breakfast. Highly recommended.
