What a great little hotel, rooms were nicely decorated with great facilities. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the lounge great for a cosy evening. The staff were very helpfully and accommodating to a family with a baby. Would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: Room 203 was great when travelling with a baby

The hotel is right in the centre of the town - perfect for a post ski stay! The rooms were of a good standard for its star rating, and the bar/drinks rooms were gorgeous! I would highly recommend this hotel! Breakfast wasn't included, but us definately good value for money. Very helpful staff, and excellent proximity to local amenities. I would also recommended food at 21 Cafe - beautiful!

We stayed two nights at the Hotel Le Russie in June. The bedroom and bathroom were basic, but comfortable and more than adequate. The restaurant was good but a bit traditional. We much preferred the Bistro next door, also part of the hotel. What struck us was that everbody seemed to know everyone in this traditional resort. A really friendly place. The disadvantage was parking, but we managed to find free on street parking a short walk away.

We stayed at Le Russie one night and found the hotel to well appointed, especially the common areas, and a good place to explore the quaintly picturesque little town of Le Mont Dore. Our room wasn't overly large but certainly large enough (we stayed in smaller on this trip!) to handle our luggage as well as ourselves, the bed comfortable and the bathroom was actually quite large. The room faced the road and was located just above an outdoor sitting area, which was a bit noisy during the day and early the next morning but perfectly quiet overnight for sleeping. There are also roll down metal blinds that can be used to muffle the light and noise.

We did not dine at the hotel restaurant but did stop off at the bar for drinks after dinner. Had I dressed a bit warmer, we would have sat outside to enjoy the nightcap.

Overall, definitely a good value for the money.

We choose this hotel due to reviews. However on our arrival we noted that the pictures on their website had been misleading. The room was basic. Small bed, red lamps and bulbs on the bedside table, and a small table with two wicker chairs adding the to furniture quota. The walls were white and textured, all rather depressing. It got worse. On the website pictures it showed bathrooms that were modern with the promise of a decent shower. Ours ... well dangerous comes to mind. The shower was tiny, not concept of thermal control - fluctuated from cold to scolding! The toilet seat came down ever time you tried to sit down, and the flush gave up during our stay. Above the sink as the soak dispenser for the shower! [how you were supposed to get to that from inside the cubicle was a wonder, and worst of all it was located next to an unprotected electrical socket [you really did not want to miss that soap dispenser when leaning out of the shower!]. The lift itself was a small coffin, wood cladded box, but it worked. However to be fair to this hotel the downstairs had seen all the investment. It had a charming lounge, and a popular restaurant that doubled as the breakfast room. Very Alpine in style. The lady who ran breakfast was incredibly efficient, pleasant and attentive, however the expectation to eat off a tray was rather unexpected! Next door to the hotel this was the bar, which also sold food. Here it was a different story, very pleasant, welcoming staff, and atmosphere.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the higher grade room!

Typically French room (small) and bathroom (small) but new and comfortable bed which is worth a fortune after a long drive so we woke refreshed. Helpful friendly staff, reasonable breakfast all value for money and worth staying the night there

We stayed at the Russie for 4 nights - 4 of us plus the dog. its a lovely hotel - the spacious and beautifully decorated lounge is an excellent place to flop down after a hard days skiing. The four of us sat for hours doing jigsaws and playing Scrabble...something we have not done for years. The bedrooms are small in the typical French fashion but clean and pleasantly furnished - our bathroom was OK but a bit scruffy/dated. The room was at the back of the hotel and very quiet. The restaurant is very good and very crowded! it was half term and they dont take bookings so we did have to wait a bit - lots of local food like the truffade. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Internet worked brilliantly everywhere in the hotel - and its free. Mont Dore is a Belle Epoque delight - but the skiing for intermediate skiers is much better at Super Besse. it was horribly crowded on the beginner slopes at Mont Dore.
