After a disappointing start in Concarneau. we moved to Benodet to find a decent 2* Hotel, and we found one which surpassed our expectation, and at a very reasonable price.
Situated a few minutes walk from the Seafront, this Hotel has excellent facilities, a most efficient and helpful owner, and the best breakfast around.
We had very well equippped, clean and comfortable rooms, ours with a small balcony overlooking the small back garden (and carpark) and tree area. The second bedroom, being used by a friend as a single, was equally comfortable, at the front, but as the road is so quiet, there was no disturbance throughout our six night stay.
Our rooms were quite spacious and had everything we needed, including a small fridge for our personal use - very useful. We even had a bottle-opener! The equally well-equipped bathroom, which even had a stainless steel retractable washing line, and hairdryer, was spotless, but if you're looking for the latest bathroom design this is not the place for you. Plenty of hot water though, and maintained immaculately.
If you want tea and coffee in your room we suggest you take your own kettle. However, we were told on arrival to 'treat the Hotel like home' and on a good few occasions we took advantage of the kettle, and free tea and coffee-making facilities in the dining room. However, we were told on arrival to 'treat the Hotel like home' and on a good few occasions we took advantage of the kettle, and free tea and coffee-making facilities in the dining room. Talking of dining, our breakfast range for 8 Euros included the the usual breads, jam and butter, plus boiled eggs (cold), ham, cheese, yogurts, fruit, cereals and toast cooked yourself, and as much tea and coffee as you could drink. Francois, the owner, kept everything replenished, with a geniality and good humour rare in someone so busy.
Additionally, this hotel has free safe parking, as the gates are closed at 23.00 hrs. A downstairs room is available for disabled guests, although we did not actually see the room.
This is a super hotel, in a super spot, with an owner who takes pride in his hotel, and being local-born he knows the area well.
By the way, if looking for a super creperie, you would do well to visit 'Creperie de Benodet' where we found the best range of Crepes, served by son, with mama cooking her rather authentic, lovely tasting crepes, decently priced, with wine to match, in a friendly, cosy atmosphere. It is situated just off the front, within easy walking distance of the Hotel Ker Vennaik. Enjoy.More
