“Average Park with very cold pools”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

We stayed here from 6th July to 18th July with my wife and 4 kids aged 14,12,5 and 4.
We stayed in the Esprit 3 bed 2 bath mobile home which was spotless and had plenty of room for us all.
On arrival we didn't have to wait long until the mobile home was ready. There was a checklist stating they had checked everything but we had 2 light bulbs missing and the toilet was broke. This was quickly resolved though. The only gripe we had with our accommodation was that there was no utensils for the BBQ.
The pools on the site were freezing and on 1 day we had to leave as there appeared to be an infestation of ants and flies.
The shop on the site was really overpriced and opened at strange hours.
We dined once in the restaurant which again was very expensive and the choice and quality of food wasn't great.
The kids clubs for 4-6 year olds was always oversubscribed and you had to be there at 9.30 to guarantee getting your kids in. The kids club is offsite and was a good walk away from our accommodation.
The Eurocamp staff were very friendly and helpful.
The entertainment at night was poor and very poorly attended.
The best thing about this site was the beach across the road which was excellent.

Dear customer,

We thank you for your comment about our campsite and took good note of your various remarks that will help us improve our quality of service.
You booked your stay with Eurocamp and you can be sure we will pass your various comments to them!
We have also taken note of your feedback regarding the restaurant and shop and will pass it on to our F&B manager.
As far as the swimming pool is concerned, will you please note that the pool under the dome is heated (27° for the water and 25° for the air), a temperature that you can check at all times thanks to the thermometer that was settled inside. We now have trained members of our staff to do more temperature check, so do not hesitate and ask them if you wish to double check.

Again thank you for taking time to comment on our Tripadvisor feedback page, please do get in touch if you wish to comment on any of the above.

Best regards,

We stayed here for nearly 3 weeks end of June to middle of July, just before peak season so the site was not completely full. We travelled with our car from Rosslare to Roscoff, and its about a 2 and a half hour drive. Hadn't been here before but had stayed with Keycamp in Domaines des Ormes and Les Deux Fontaines. This time we went with Eurocamp and stayed in a 3 bedroom Classic plus with deck. The accommodation was great. We have never had any issues with Eurocamp or Keycamp. To read some reviews on here you would think people were expecting to stay in 5 star hotel!!
I would say location wise this was best site we'd been on. I like getting off site and you could walk into Benodet along the lovely coastal path in less than half an hour.
What was also great about this site was they had a Base for teenagers. Our two (14 and a half and almost 17) had gone to the kids clubs when they were younger but recently had thought going to Base wouldn't be "cool"! To be honest, they had a ball and made loads of friends. The Eurocamp rep Flo was brilliant with them. If you are going with older children or teenagers I would encourage them to use facilities like this as the majority of children on site when we were there were pre-schoolers or primary school aged. There are lots of activities organised by the site for them like discos and parties etc but not much for older children who might be bored.
The camp shop is great for your croissants in the morning but go to the Carrefour in Benodet or another ten mins will take you to the Super U near Combrit which is bigger and has more of a selection. We barbecued most nights. The take away on site is quite reasonable for pizza and frites! If you want to go into town you can walk to San Souci (or drive) which is lovely to sit in and have a drink or a meal and watch the world go by. Or walk a wee bit further round to the port and try La Croisette. We also ate in Cafe Foutu which had lovely food and a manager who looked like Jonny Depp! Try the moules frites
As regards other things to do, if you had small children I expect some people spent all their time on site or at the pool, but as I said we had older kids so went to Corncarneau and Quimper a few times (been before and both beautiful cities) and we took the Les Vedettes de L'Odet cruise out to the les Glenans which were stunning and would thoroughly recommend.
We would certainly consider going back to La Pointe St Gilles. The weather can be mixed, but that's Brittany for you!

stayed fro two weeks through Eurocamp end of june. Mobile was clean and bright. The facilities in the camp were excellent. The shop was a little pricey. take care at the pool on wet days as the surface in the indoor section was very slippy. benodet is a lovely town. The little beach across from the park was just right. Kids went to the Eurocamp Camps. they were that good thet they didn't want to come out with us. An issue arose in the secon week in that the camps couldn't accommodate all the kids. maybe a better system could be put in place whereby the kids did not have to go down to the camp only to be told their was no room. Could this be done a little earlier at another location so that people are not turned away.

Just returned today from our week long stay in Benodet with Eurocamp. Weather wasn't great, but not the fault of anyone we booked with :) Flew into Brest and hired a car then drove an hour to the site. Firstly the town of Benodet is beautiful with a lovely beach and some fantastic restaurants. Don't know if we would want 2 weeks here as you would struggle with things to do. Simon, one of the kids reps (for the under 5's) was fantastic, and had the patience of a Saint with the little one's!

Site on the whole was lovely and clean. Yes the shop and take away aren't the cheapest, but fab fresh bread and croissants in the morning at the shop. Ate at the Saffron restaurant on site on the last evening, and was pleasantly surprised. Restaurant doesn't look anything exciting, but ate outside in the sun and food was lovely.

Caravan was a "Classic Plus" with outside decking. Had a lovely plot on the outskirts of the park. Caravan was clean, if a little musty smelling, but had everything we needed (apart from 1 1/2 days when it poured down and would have killed for a TV!)

Evening kids entertainment was ok. The compere spoke mostly in French to the kids, which is fine as we were in France, but probably 90% of the audience were English speaking :)

Overall, would definitely recommend Benodet as an area as it is beautiful, and the site was great too.

Our first holiday with Eurocamp and we had a great time. Children loved the activities, which made the holiday. Our eldest went to Mac's Fun Station most days and had lots of fun. Special thanks to Joey! Our 18 month old daughter went to the swimming lessons and really enjoyed them - special thanks to Simon the instructor who was great with the under 2's. The site itself was not too big and well maintained, ideal for children. Pool was lovely and very child-friendly. Shop well stocked. We didn't use the restaurant but the takeaway was good. We bbq'd most nights on the bbq provided. Caravan (3 bedroom 2 bathroom Espirit with decking and garden furniture) was not enormous but fine for a week. It wasn't in perfect condition with a couple of items not working, but when reported to the Eurocamp staff these were promptly fixed. The plot was fine, private enough with room for a car and close to the facilities. Impressed by the Eurocamp staff who were friendly, attentive and helpful. Overall a great first holiday with Eurocamp we'll be back!

This site had all the amenities you could want - well stocked shop, pool, takeaway, and better still the little town of Benodet, with a wide sandy beach and lovely ice cream place, was only 10 minutes walk.

The caravans are roomy and comfortable and well equipped with linen, cooking stuff etc and a veranda for sitting and eating outside.

One small annoying thing: the pool was crowded from early til late, we barely got a look in.
