“Lunch in Roscoff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014

Although visiting Roscoff 4 or 5 times a year, this is the first time my wife and I have been to this Restaurant.
We had booked a table, but turned up early, they took about 5 minutes to sort everything out and get us to a table. The Staff were very helpful and genial, and made it very easy to relax. The 18 euro set menu was very good with a choice of at least 4 items on each course.I would recommend the marinated Salmon as a starter and the Pollock for the main course, also the Breton Prune cake was very moist and tasty. The Restaurant is in an ideal situation and parking is available close by,I would recommend this Restaurant to anyone and we will definitely be going there again.
Definitely the best we have found in Roscoff so far

“Last French meal of the holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Our last French hoorah, for this year, anyway. We hadn't booked, but staff were happy to accommodate us on a beautiful afternoon. Service was efficient, and the menu varied. All our food was excellent - what impressed me most was the children's menu - a choice of fish and chips, burger and chips and nuggets and chips - one went for burger and chips, and the other two for fish and chips - and what a treat - proper steak burger, and beautiful cod cooked without batter - no pre-formed, frozen inferior rubbish we've become used to for kids! And all for less than a Brewer's Fayre!

“Hostile? Hardly - but I couldn't blame them”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

We've eaten at the Auberge more than 20 times having adopted Roscoff as our favourite refuge about five years ago. For a reviewer to complain, as one has, of waiting staff being 'hostile' is astonishing. We have never found them anything but welcoming, friendly, efficient and cheerful. Yes, you do have to order all three courses at once, but this is quite normal practice in a busy restaurant - or perhaps the reviewer who complained doesn't get out much. It also helps to oil the wheels of a service which we have never found to run other than like a well-regulated clock. The Auberge offers some of the best value for money in Roscoff (chasing Le Surcouf all the way to the wire) and the prix fixe menus are outstanding - look for any restaurant in the UK offering you foie gras and steak on the same formule for less than thirty quid and you'll die of starvation. Personally I couldn't blame a waiter here for being hostile given the way so many Brits march in like they are the proprietor and proceed to order everything in English with no effort to attempt French: the most extreme reaction I have ever noticed, however, is a discreet raising of the eyebrows on the way back to the kitchen. Think of a Frenchman walking into a restaurant in Plymouth and demanding everything in his native tongue....

“While you're waiting for the ferry”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

We arrived in Roscoff a couple of hours before we were due to drive to the ferry port so we decided on lunch here. The restaurant was very busy, inside and out so the service wasn't terrifically fast but there wasn't too long a wait. The food is a fairly high quality, slightly chefy but well cooked and delicious. The tables are close enough together for customers to be entertained by the conversations of ones neighbours, but not so close as to be awkward. While we were there a fisherman arrived at the harbour and unloaded that days catch for sale, you cannot get any fresher than that! I was surprised at how nice a town Roscoff is.

“Excellent food, lovely atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014 via mobile

We wanted somewhere to eat early as we are on holiday with our 11 month old baby. The restaurant was welcoming and friendly. They were very happy to accommodate the baby, even treating him to an ice cream wafer (asking my permission first). Waitress very friendly. Two course meal for two with soft drinks €35, bargain in France. Food was freshly cooked, lovely and big portions. We would definitely return again.
