“Return visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013

I have rarely returned anywhere as I /we like the adventure of new places, but after eight months sorting out a new house we needed a break with good food and didn't want to take a chance, so we returned to L'Hortensia.
I wrote the very first review on this place and nothing has changed the rooms are immaculate and a bargain still , the food is as good if not better Phillipe should have had a Michelin star years ago, the menu never failed to deliver, maybe Michelin are losing the plot but anyhow Phillipe and Nathalie do their utmost to make you welcome and as before they are still delivering at a high quality the wine list is interesting for those who imbibe and many are Phillipes choices unlike many establishments that have the merchants do it for them and there are some local gems in there.
If in this area just go.

I wish to tell to whole world about this treasure place.. Chef Philippe creativity is amazing and every dishes a piece of art.... Catamaran of strawberries was a blast :-) His lovely wife Nathalie is very friendly just here when you need and very discret at the same time the right attitude for a Maitre d'hotelt! We had the opportunity to stay over night in one of their new appartment studio and it was just right for us having two little kids. The decoration all done by Nathalie is very trendy and tasty and guess what the morning breakfast with fesh home made croissant and
jam! Out of the place you can walk to the sea and admire the magnificient bay.. What a fantastic experience we had :-) thanks to both of you and wishing good luck for te future. We will be back!

Wanted a place slightly south of the normal tourist havens in the Gulf of Morbihan, this seemed to tick the boxes and so it proved with spades! converted from a farmhouse only four years ago everything is modern and comfortable, with walk in shower and seperate toilet, there are only five bedrooms here and its only some small rush hour (if you can call it that) noise that is heard despite this being in the middle of this pleasant village. This is very much a hands on affair with Nathalie and Phillipe Bonne seeming to run everything themselves Phillipe is the Chef(more later),but nothing was to much trouble ,great hostess is Nathalie.
The food here is worth the trip they already have a "Bib gourmand " from Michelin and in my view they are worthy of a star(having just sampled two ,one starred establishments at home that came nowhere near in quality or invention,it really is good ,we stayed seven nights halfboard and only one dish was not liked a lot (a matter of personal taste not the quality of dish) reccomended are the foie gras and truffle parcels, the pan fried foie gras on fillet of turbot and the sushi on vineleaves and crabmeat amongst others,at the prices this establishment is offering this place is superb value, something that is becoming increasingly difficult to find these days,i would personnally recommend early and late here in the season as we were told it does get very busy in July,August,i've only presented a review when i thought a place was outstanding ,had little coverage but deserved more or was really not up to scratch, remember this is not a big hotel with all facilities and for that reason would not really suit families or people who require all those extras, for everyone else go for it.For boating ,sailing lovers this area makes it an even better reason to stay.
