This hotel did not live up to its rating. It was listed as a four star, but it was certainly no more than a three star. The room was just an ordinary room. The breakfast was not very good. all the food seemed to be from the night before. It was not worth the money. It did however have good parking and it was quite close to town. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We came across this hotel by chance last year when we stayed at Auray and spent a day exploring the Ile-aux-Moins by Navix excursions. One of the brochures en route advertised La Marébaudiere, so we dropped in to investigate further. Céline on reception was very helpful in showing us round the hotel and what a typical room had to offer. With this background we made a reservation for 2013 for six nights directly with the hotel. Reservation/confirmation was straightforward and we opted for a Queen size suite to ensure that we had sufficient clothes space during our stay.

The SAT-NAV easily found the hotel and the free car park (I counted 43 spaces) was a welcome feature for the centre of Vannes. Reception staff were friendly and courteous and we were presented with a town map with the location of numerous eating places {After a few days our favorite eating places were Dan Ewen, Balade en Crêpanie and Kalon Breiz crêperie – refer to these specific restuarants on Trip Advisor for comments}. Our room (# 202) was spacious, with sufficient space for oddments/clothes, but nowhere to keep the suitcases. In the end we decided to empty the cases and put them back in the boot of the car for the duration of our stay. There was tea/coffee facilities, a room safe, an effective A/C system and a TV with excellent reception. There was also a dual purpose rubbish bin that separated recycling items from non-recycling. The previous occupant had forgotten the golden rule for operating a room safe – always leave the safe door open when vacating the room. Ours had been closed on departure, so we could not open it. However, the reception staff readily sorted the problem out within ½hr of our arrival. The bed was large and extremely comfortable, but the weight of the duvet was more suited to winter temperatures rather than the mild temperatures of September. The bath/shower room was modern with efficient dual shower heads. Unfortunastely, there was no window that opened in the bathroom or extractor fan that could be activated to clear the steam. There was no restuarant in the hotel but the breakfast was comprehensive and for €12 per head, very good value. There was a choice of cereals, yoghurts, cheese and meats, fruit salad, various breads & confitures, together with a cooked option (scrambled eggs/sausages).

Overall would recommend without hesitation. The central location to shops/restuarants and with the benefit of the large free car park makes this a difficult choice to beat.

Room Tip: Room 202 was rear facing, quiet, with double bed + single bed. Plenty of space.

Chose this Hotel for our visit to Vannes based on Tripadvisor reviews, we were not disappointed. Yes, it is not easy to locate due to traffic density and road systems. So recommend careful map planning if visiting by car, as we were! We arrived early, staff most welcoming on arrival, our room was available and as requested was on ground floor to facilitate my wife's mobility problems. Room was totally adequate for our short stay, functional, clean, good en-suite, tea-making and TV.
Car park absolutely wonderful and thanks to location of hotel close to all amenities we were able to walk everywhere and car did not move for two days.
The old Town of Vannes is indeed within easy walking distance as is the very beautiful Port area. Shops bars and good restaurants are all within range, we especially liked the La Gavroche restaurant in Rue de la Fontaine serving traditional cuisine, family run, really excellent, great atmosphere.
On arrival hotel staff provided very useful town plan of Vannes showing locations of places of interest and eateries. Most useful. We had breakfast in hotel on day one, perfectly adequate, served in clean functional dining area on lower ground floor with lift access.
We found this a perfect hotel for our requirements well run clean comfortable with excellent friendly staff. Could not fault in any way. Highly recommend.

The hotel was located just a 10 minute walk from the centre of Vannes with free parking which was a bonus. The rooms were modern, clean and airy though only slightly smaller than expected but fine for what was required. The staff were very kind and helpful, it was lovely staying there for the week.
The only downfall I would say however, was the breakfast. Upon checking out, we discovered that it cost us 12 Euros per person per day for the breakfast. Had it been a lovely selection which filled us up I would not of had a problem with this. However for a couple of dried up croissants and bread I did not think it was worth this at all. They did have sausages and eggs available and cereal with yogurt - the standard continental (and I believe you could help yourself to as much as you like) however for us, it wasnt very appealing as it all looked cold, shrivelled and dry so we stuck with tiny dry croissants - and still having to pay the full 12 euros each per day. Had I been advised at the beginning of this cost, I wouldnt have bothered having the breakfast at all and pay 12 euros elsewhere for something more decent. Overall though, the hotel really was lovely to stay in.

The three of us, husband , dog and I all enjoyed our two night stay here. It's a bit complicated to find at first because of the one way system, but sweeping into a large car park is a definite plus after a long day in the car. We asked for a room with access to the garden for the 'convenience' of the dog, which was no problem.
I can really recommend the nearest restaurant ...The Gargoille( spelling?)
It was pelting down so we dashed across the road with a hotel umbrella kindly lent, the restaurant serves grilled meats etc. Cooked with a fine sense of theatre in front of you. We asked for a lamb kebab to share......superb!

My husband and I spent 3 nights here as part of a holiday package with Brittany Ferries, chose this hotel because parking in Vannes is always such a problem. We were not disappointed, the rooms are lovely, clean, fresh and modern, bathroom also good with all the necessary toiletries. We had a room on the ground floor with a French window opening out on to the garden (had a very enjoyable glass of wine in the evening on the tables and chairs provided). Breakfast was all you could want - continental style but with some hot items to cater for the British. The tea/coffee tray was a bonus (most French hotels do not provide this) but I have to agree with previous reviews, no proper cups. However this was not a problem - you only have to ask. Staff were great, we arrived well before checkingin time and were pleasantly surprised to find our room was ready. We have been to Vannes many times and once again enjoyed our visit. Will definitely use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor leading out to the garden are best.

We stayed here in April 2013, having come over to Brittany from Plymouth on Brittany Ferries' Armorique. We drove from Roscoff to Vannes, and chose this hotel because it has a car park. We had warm sunny weather in Vannes, although the nights were cold.

Service: All the staff were friendly and helpful. The ladies on reception were very pleasant and happily gave us a map of the town with restaurants listed. We tried several of these. Le Gavroche was the best we tried (none were bad).

Location: About 10 / 15 minutes' walk to the old town / harbour. Plenty of choice of cafes, bars, restaurants on the way. Although close to the town, we found the location to be quiet and peaceful. We particularly enjoyed the garden, with a big cherry tree in full pink blossom (see photos). The lady at reception kindly brought our order of 2 glasses of kir out to us so we could enjoy the warm weather.

Room: comfortable bed, lovely en-suite with a super shower, nice and clean, a bit short of wardrobe/drawer space but OK for 3 nights. We're not great tea/coffee drinkers so didn't bother with the room tray - the coffee at breakfast was good.

Breakfast:- we thought the breakfast was very good. served ourselves to juices, tea, coffee (excellent), cold meats, cheese, bread, croissants, fresh fruit. There is even a machine with boiling water so you can boil yourself an egg (don't forget to turn it up to boiling & look at your watch when you put the egg on). The lady attending the breakfast buffet was friendly, too.

(Note - if you are going on a boat trip round the gulf it is at least a further 15 mins walk from the town end of the harbour to the boat station where the trip boats depart. There are loos there but in April there was only a caravan selling drinks and snacks - no choice of bars/restaurants etc. You can book tickets for the boat trips from the tourist information centre, near the town end of the harbour.)

Travel: We left Plymouth at 22:00 and had an inside cabin with bunks. We slept OK and docked in Roskoff at 08:00. The drive across Brittany was easy - the roads are good and in April they were not busy. Signposting was good, although we had prepared by bringing maps with us. We explored Carnac (lovely) and Quiberon (beware one way system and appalling lack of signposts) before heading for Vannes to check in. We found the hotel quite easily in Vannes. We also had a day out by car exploring the Presqu'île de Rhuys, well signposted but they had several road closures and diversions due to roadworks. The drive back up to Roskoff (this time via Pontivy) was easy too, and we stopped off at the wine shop with a big red bus outside it near Roskoff (on the Roskoff-Morlaix road) to stock up before we caught the ferry home. Very helpful owner offered us loos, coffee and wine tasting before we bought. An afternoon/evening crossing on Armorique this time, chance to sample the buffet restaurant. This was adequate, but it is disappointing that Armorique has no proper restaurant - it would have made the journey so much more pleasant. The bar staff on Armorique were polite but don't appear to be happy or really welcoming. Perhaps they were weary of the childrens entertainment that seems to take over in the bar area for much of the trip. There is a quiet room for reading off to one side.

All in all we had a wonderful stay in Brittany, and would happily do it again. We can recommend the hotel, La Marebaudiere, particularly if you have a car.

Room Tip: We had room 112, on the first floor at the rear of the hotel, overlooking the gardens of neighbourin...
