I liked this hotel. Sure some of the staff was a bit lifeless but, upon leaving and wanting to mail postcards, we happened upon two very nice ladies.
The most memorable part of our stay (one night) was the dinner. There was absolutely nowhere else to eat so, after scouting around, we came back to the hotel. In the interim a huge bus full of German tourists had descended and were packing half the alloted restaurant tables. This did not look good. How could two wait people look after us, other guests and the Germans? But they did. Admirably. The meal and service was excellent.

The hotel is an average priced hotel in a central location. Functional is probably the best description. It does lack any charm as suggested by other reviewers. Sadly so did the staff. Alas, sometimes you need to find a spot on route between two locations and this was it for one night before the airport drive. I'd not really recommend unless you were looking for functional stopover at reasonable price. Watch out for the 10 euros to park your car overnight. Didn't realise this until it was added to the bill!

Room Tip: We went for the comfort room but maybe the next level up might be more inspiring.

Centre of town easily walkable from this hotel. When we arrived, the bins between reception and the car parking area were very smelly. Our room was very small, with a dusty lamp and the shower room so small as to be impossible. It was room 103 and had very intermittent wi-fi. We asked to change after the first night and the second room had been renovated and, while still small, was much more acceptable (we realise we have to accept small rooms when wanting to be near to the centre of old towns). The shower room was still small, but much better, as it was modern. However, the shower cabinet was about 9 inches up from the floor and, when stepping down from a wet slippery shower tray, it was a problem. If there was a door between the bedroom and the shower room, we couldn't find it or close it. Don't leave it until last minute to check out - the one receptionist was trying to answer phones and deal with people wanting to pay, which caused quite a long delay. We also had a problem trying to get our car out of the very tightly packed yard, which meant we left a good 45 minutes later than we wanted. We also had to cope with a very bad-tempered receptionist.

Room Tip: The elegance rooms are a lot nicer, although still small

A fairly charmless place, but price was reasonable and location is good. If you want a comfortable no-nonsense room in the centre of Macon at a reasonable price, then this place is for you; but don't expect anything memorable. Would be great for business travel; less nice for holiday.

"Comfort" room was a reasonable size and ours had a very large bathroom. We stayed twice, however the second time the room was much smaller and had a slight sewer smell (room 206 or 208, I think it was). Breakfast room and bar are atmospheric, however. Staff were relaxed and friendly. Parking is available, but costs extra.

We stayed here overnight, having selected the hotel rather arbitrarily from an old Michelin Guide. Apart from the reception area and breakfast room, the hotel has had a designer makeover, as other reviewers have noted. Our room was smart but very small, with very little storage, and we found the automatic 'hall' and bathroom lights rather irritating. The bed was comfortable, but the very heavy duvet was not. We paid the rack rate for a 'premium leisure' room which, at €100, seemed rather expensive. The breakfast (€10) was dismal, particularly the awful mini croissants, and having been told that milk would be brought for the coffee (ready in a thermos), it wasn't. There's private parking, mostly under cover for another €10 a night.
