A lovely spot overlooking the River & promenade. The waiter was very willing and helpful(1 of our party is a celiac- gluten free). No problems at all. The waiter was better with English than our French!! Had a lovely meal. So much so we went back the next evening as well. They were so pleased to see us again. And another good meal was had by all.

We were seated quickly at 8.00pm with no reservation. Service was brisk even though the place was full. There were several set menus and an a la carte. Traditional French food with mostly local ingredients. Lots of duck, foie gras, snails, beef and wholesome salad plates. I had the 30 euro menu with Salade Landaise, Pave de boeuf and cheese plate. My husband also enjoyed a salad followed by a first class boeuf bourgignon. Local cremant to drink and a glass of Fleurie with the meat and cheese. Very good meal for less than 60 euros.

Monday night in Macon and many restaurants closed so I opted for Le Lamartine which looked inviting and busy. I chose a two course menu of smoked salmon, large portion of thick fillets, and pave de boeuf with vegetables on side. The food was delicious though would have done little to aid a calorie controlled diet but what the heck, this is France! All washed down with very reasonable and drinkable red wine of the region. Staff very friendly and restaurant interesting old style. Would recommend and will return.

We often break our journey south at Macon and have tried many local restaurants. This one was recommended by the hotel receptionist. The original building dates from the 18th century and the atmosphere is lively.
We chose the 30 euro menu of three courses and thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. We started with a salade Landaise (smoked duck breast, their own foie gras with toast and mixed leaves) followed by a magret de canard with green pepper sauce +pomme dauphinoise/courgette
/salade) and bavette de beouf. One of us had the peach flan and the other a selection of goat, bleu de Bresse and very creamy brie like cheese. The service was efficient and friendly. We drank local wines by the glass and tap water was offered in carafes. We'd definitely go again and try a more expensive menu next time.
