We concluded a week long barge trip on the Canal du Nevernaise with a celebratory meal at Jean-Michel Couron. Dining with friends who had hosted us on their barge we all agreed that the Michelin star is well deserved and that this was a fantastic dining experience on a number of levels. Impeccable service, ambiance (the back room in the old cloister is amazing), a well executed menu and stellar wine list all contributed to a memorable evening. As each course arrived the artful presentation was thrilling; each diners plate was worthy of a high end foodie magazine photo. Each bite was a moment to savor and possibly suspect (or worry) that one might never have something this good again. Words cannot begin to do this experience justice.
