“Friendly staff. Ideal for sightseeing in The Loire.”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

The staff we friendly & helpful and the site was very efficiently run. The Welcome Pack which included a bottle of local wine was a nice touch. The swimming pools were well laid out and the shop was fine for bread/milk etc. The site was very actively promoting ownership of mobile homes mostly to Parisians wanting a weekend retreat. So the site always had a strong French presence which we appreciated, We didn’t use the restaurant or bar. We did notice that some of the mobile home pitches were just a little too cramped with privacy compromised.
The main plus point was the site location which was about 15 miles from both Amblois and Blois – both towns are certainly worth visiting. It was also ideally located to reach many of the other chateaux in the Loire.
In our opinion the main disadvantage was that it was situated in open countryside and it was impossible to walk outside of the site. The nearest small town was Onzain which was only a few minutes drive and had a largish Casino (was Intermarche) supermarket which was ideal for bulk shopping. However it did dominate the sleepy town, with very limited attractions with regards to restaurants and bars,

Most of the homes on our site are owned, a large proportion by families from Paris , only 2 hours away, using them on weekends as you correctly point out. When not being used by family or friends they are sublet to help cover their annual fees.
Some areas of the park are also newly laid out and some of the planting has yet to reach maturity.
Onzain being the nearest place is 5km from the park and is very much a working town ,which can be reached either on foot or by bicycle very easily . If you wander across the bridge into Chaumont you will find more of a tourist atmosphere here
Thank you for your kind comments especially with regard to the team , we hope to welcome you back sometime in the future

I stayed here with my husband and three children. On arrival at the site I was instantly put at ease and struck by the beauty and natural surroundings. Our mobile home was just opposite the multiple sports court which was great as the kids could play whilst we chilled out and still keep them in view. There was a great kids club, fantastic swimming pool day and evening entertainment. The only negative is the price of the drinks at the bar.
All in all we had a brilliant time and will most definitely return at some point.

Just a quick review to a weeks holiday at Domaine de Dugny with four children aged between 14 - 7 years old from the last week of August 2012
We have previously visited Siblu sites along West coast of France but this year went to EuroDisney for the first week and spent the second week at Dugny.
The site is in a quiet location but has good facilities, pools, sports area etc. The caravans are well spaced out the the site appears to be developing further.
There is a lake near the site and offers pedalos and canoes. My only negative is the restraint on taking the canoes onto the water - only for two hours per week.
The entertainment was very well run by Chris - who we have bumped into on different sites over the last six years. If you are lucky to get a site he works on the kids will be well entertained - especially if they are Notts Forest fans!!! The rest of the staff were very good also mention must fo to Frankie 'The Rock' and Alex who were the kids favourites. The kids clubs were well organised with Dutch, French and English speaking staff.
Yes i agree with comments that the main communication was in French, but we're in France and the kids make friends through play and learn to communicate learning french - one of the reasons i have holidayed in France for the last few years
For info we drove via the Chunnel and took approx 6hrs with comfort breaks, 300 odd miles but 80% of it on toll Roads - £20ish charges from what i recall but easy driving avoiding centre of Paris.
We enjoyed the holiday and will be returning to Siblu next year, though prefer the costal sites. Hopefully Chris will be at the site running the entertainment??

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay , we are indeed continually trying to improve and provide excellent sporting and entertainment facilities here at Domaine de Dugny. The lake being a very popular one , we like to share it's attraction between fishing , pedalos and canoes so everybody gets an opportunity , but unfortunately at busy times in the season this can prove difficult
Thank you for your comments which will be passed onto Chris and the team - look forward to seeing you here again

This was our first Siblu holiday (courtesy of Tesco vouchers) staying 10 nights from mid August in an Excellence mobile home. The location of this site is fantastic being located in a rural setting, but close to lots of sights of the Loire. The campsite itself is also great. The weather was scorching while we were there and we were very fortunate to be located in the older shady part of the site in a very large pitch surrounded on 3 sides with a hedge (offering privacy) and a lush grassy lawn. There is a large new area with struggling newly planted trees which offer no shade or privacy at all.
My 3 boys aged between 10 and 14 loved the pool, go-carts, fishing (bring your own gear) and table tennis.
The staff was generally very polite and helpful and switched straight to English on hearing my dreadful attempts at French (well at least I tried).
Our mobile home seemed new and well equiped and we were very glad of the large covered deck.
The pool was refreshingly cold as the weather was so hot, but this would be a negative for most of the rest of the season. It also has incredibly slippery marble crazy paving in areas which I slipped over on and saw several other adults and children do the same - this really is a hazzard which should be sorted out.
Sadly there were a few negative points - the 'entertainment' was shockingly bad and far too loud. It also went on every single night, sometimes until after midnight even though it is supposed to stop by 11pm. However, we were amazed at the number of people who seemed to be enjoying it - it is aimed at a certain market (dare I say Butlins?) which perhaps is just not us.
Also, the restaurant is terrible - in terms of the poor quality food, poor service (we never got some of the things we ordered and gave up asking for them in the end) and vast overpricing (a modest meal for our family of 5 (only main courses and 1 drink each) came to a ridiculous €77. Also, the restaurant is right opposite the entertainment stage so you are subjected to 'crazy conga' (or whatever) at top volume throughout your meal.
So in summary, in my opinion the daytime activities were great but the evenings and night-times were not. This was our first experience of Siblu - chosen only because it cost us almost nothing with our Tesco vouchers (including the eurotunnel) and we probably will not use them again. As a family we want more relaxation than loud 'entertainment' so maybe this is a case of this type of holiday just not suiting us.

Room Tip: Ask to be sited in the old part of the campsite if you want shade. In high season airconditioning wi...

Thank you for all your comments - sorry to hear that some of the activities we provide were not to your taste! we do try to cater for families of all nationalities and entertainment can be a difficult area, but genarally speaking most feedback is very positive . We aim to provide for those who like a lively break and those who prefer more peace and quiet. I do try to meet special requests as much as possible , please do ask next time you book to be located in a quieter shady area of the park. Comments about the restaurant will be passd on , generally speaking the prices are in line with other restaurants in the surrounding area to which you have to travel to of course!

Went here at the last minute when let down by the dreadful french freedom holidays
peacefull site with nice pitches and from what we could see good accomodation. If you like to really get away from it this could be the site for you
positives - good entertainment, bar prices OK for france, nice setting
negatives - freezing outside pool was unnacceptable (thank god they didn't enforce the skimpy speedo rule!), portaloos instead of real toilets be the main entertainment area, restaraunt was poor
tips - we liked lulu park near tours - good for kids aged 5 to 10 - take swimming stuff
the nearby zoo is very good. Onzaine has some nice bars in the centre but is pretty quiet

Room Tip: go near the lake if you can

Thank you for your kind comments, sorry to hear you thought the pool was cold! Our indoor covered pool is heated but not the outdoor. Being in France we do get the advantage of a much warmer climate and it can be a very refereshing change to cool down on a hot summer afternoon. We do try to upgrade some of our facilities each year and will take onboard the comments made regarding toilets in the main entertainment area.
Once again thank you for sharing what we believe to be one of the most beautiful and peaceful settings in the Loire Valley

Not long back from two weeks holiday in Domaine de Dugny (last two weeks in August 2012) and we heart broken to be home from what was our best holiday in years. This would have been our seventh consecutive year holidaying in france with Siblu and we found that Domaine de Dugny fits our needs and we are planning to go back again next year. I would admit that the weather plays a big part of any holiday and we could not have asked for better, we arrived on Saturday 18th August to a temperature of 40 deg C and the cool external pool was exactly what was called for.
When we started holidaying in France we stayed in Domaine de Kerlann for five two week periods and loved it but found the site to be very open and not too secure as it was open to locals to use the facilities ie the pools and Bar. We then moved on to Les Pierres Couchees which we did not like and at the end of the holiday we had enough and were happy to be going home, I would admit that the weather that year was particularly bad and did not help.
This year Domaine de dugny exceeded all expectations and we have nothing but praise for the site and the facilities. We have one 9 year old boy (Tim) who made good friends from day one and he had lots of freedom as the site was secure because of its location etc. Small things make a big difference to us and all the staff we had dealings with were very helpfull and accommodating. Tim could go to the bar for a fizzy drink and he was afforded the same attention as the adult beside him looking for a glass of wine or beer. We used the on site restaurant three times ovet the two keeks and it was perfect for our needs, again the staff were "lovely" helpfull and polite. Tim did not partake in the Kids clubs so I cannot comment there but the night time entertainment was as good as we have experienced in the past on the other sites.
We will be going back to Domaine de Dugny in 2013 and if I can get the time off work we would like to stay for three weeks.
In relation to the countryside around the three sites we have been too we would prefer the costal areas of france with the small towns and fishing villages rather than the inland towns around Domaine de Dugny but the site itself more than compensates for this.

Room Tip: Spend a little extra on your holiday and go for the bigger mobile home with deck.

Firstly thank you for your loyalty to the brand! you obviously thrive on what we have to offer you here in France!
Here we are a smaller team than at some of the other parks you mentioned - but very energetic! - Thank you for your kind comments, we look forward to welcoming you again in 2013 and perhaps to recommend some of the wonderful chateaux to visit if you are going to be here for 3 weeks

We attended annual Airshow at Blois and booked this site as it had a 600m grass strip to land. It was a 2 hr flight from Cherbourg and easy to find from air. Reception was very English friendly and followingly simple registration, we all went for a beer. We had booked a midrange Mobile and was pleasantly surprised to find a well equipped, clean cabin. Off to the pool for a quick swim, back for a shower then off to restaurant. Service was jovial and Paella was the main meal. This was good but one of us had steak which was not exceptional. A few more beers followed and the bill was not as bad as expected for being a captive audience. We encountered a problem with one of the planes and reception came to the rescue. It was later I found that the main help was the manager himself. Site was clean and quiet overnight. A return visit is being planned with wives this time!
